What do you guys think of the velodyne vquiets? People like them for drum and bass and rap but it doesn't go too well with rock and jazz. I don't own them btw but I have heard them.
Tyll likes them so they can't be that bad

If anyone is still curious, I just picked one up refurb from Velodyne @ $130.  At this price, I'm willing to try something weird... even if it is just for my basshead days.

It should be noted that the image posted on page 1 is an early digital rendering of the product and not an actual product photo.  This image is a better image:

We are aware the vTrue is not a style for everyone, however it is quite striking and much more impressive in person.

This just goes to show you that "one man's ceiling is another man's floor". I just got these and accept for the blue, (bad color choice, but I know it is one of  Velodyne's corporate colors) this is the nicest set of headphones I own out of 22 pair and I own multiples of all the majors. These are not heavy at all in my opinion and the leather is very soft. They have the build quality of $1000+ phones. Real ,high quality leather, steel and laquered aluminum remind me of getting into a brand new Benz. They could use a bit more treble, but remember these are made by the preeminent manufacturer of subwoofers in the world. The bass is low, detailed and very tight. No muddiness and it doesn't overtake the mids and highs. So many of us (myself included) are use to listening to ruler flat AKGs and Sennheisers "openly" that when a headphone like this comes along, it takes time to adjust our hearing. I found a way to get rid of the ugly blue cord using small, plug-in adapters and an older Sennheiser black "V" headphone cord. The best deal about these is I got them at Wal Mart (yes Wal Mart) delivered for free on line for $135. They may not sound like $250-$400 headphones, but they trash everything at $135 and below.

They are/were on sale for $80. Honestly, I wouldn't even pay that for one. One of my pairs' adjusters is stuck in its extended position and now can't seal with my head, making them basically useless.

I don't know. I know there are exchange rates to the dollar and some customs duties, but that number is way out of line. Where do you live? If you really wanted these, I could see what it would cost and how much of a hassle it would be to get them to you. Let me know.

I have never seen them that low. Were they refurb? Contact Velodyne and ask Quang how much to repair them. Tell him upfront you are a friend of Dave Bonhomme's. may be they will work out a good deal. I have been doing some work for them.

As a big fan of dark n' bassy headphones, I couldn't help myself when I saw Velodyne had refurbs on sale for $80. Mine will be here on Wednesday and I look forward to trying them out.

That reminds me, I should probably get around to trying a pair of LCD 2s.

In Germany, but I did buy the headphone as a present, last year early november, so this difference makes me upset. The same problem we have with Grado headphone, but not this extreme.

Got mine a couple days ago really nice construction really comfortable. These have really good midrange The bass and treble are back in the sound stage. really an upside down U thing. They respond well to amping though.
