Hello everyone. Head-fi is the only audio forum I'm a member of, and I've been lurking here the past few years. I thought I would ask my Fisher question here first, if you all don't mind.

I purchased a Fisher 500c on Ebay about a year ago. Last Spring, I sent it to the late Paul Gryzbek of Tube Audio Design to have it restored, but he died suddenly after starting the work. A relative of Mr. Gryzbek sent it back to me in a somewhat disassembled state soon afterwards. I was a bit shook up about Mr. Gryzbek's passing. Although we only corresponded via e-mail, he was so nice and helpful. So..the Fisher 500 promptly went into a closet. I just didn't want to think about it anymore at the time.

Anyway, I am once again interested in having it restored. Even if it's just a basic service to get it assembled and running as it would stock. Does anyone here know of a Fisher restoration service that they could recommend? Thanks!

Last year I had my Fisher X-202-B restored by Craig Ostby of NOS Valves (http://www.nosvalves.com). He's in Michigan. It was fairly expensive, but he did a very good job and it took less than a month.I can recommend Craig's work.

There is also a fellow in Staten Island, NY (http://fisherdoctor.com), who actually owns the old "Fisher Radio" trademark. I corresponded with him by email before making my decision where to send my unit for restoration. From what I've read on another forum, he can take a very long time to do the work. He also provides parts kits if you want to do the work yourself.
