I bought these this week from amazon.co.uk for £10 including delivery. That's US $15.
Packaging, appearance, warranty, euro-nanny knows best:
Mine arrived in the small European packaging box,...
Absolutely beautiful little player. It's just a gorgeous chunk of tech that feels good to hold. For me personally tech has to have form as well as function and the AK120 doesn't disappoint on...
I agree w most reviews that these does not warrant the $499 MSRP. (Then rather opt for D5k, D7k).
BUT - at the +-$230 range I got them at (Amazon warehouse) - these are VERY good value for...

The Blox M2C earbuds came in what I consider the best packaging. Looked decent (non-cheap but simple), just big enough to comfortably fit the product inside and no wasted materials on extras. Not top of the line but Denon's new D600 does come in a nice box, though not a premium carry case like the D7000, it is still miles ahead of the box d5000 came in.
Sony MDR-SA5000 has a nice presentation box; Ultrasone PRO2900 has a nice utilitarian package. In terms of pure glam and showyness, the Ultrasone Edition 7 and Edition 10 are likely front runners - but they're not really practical cases to carry the headphones around in. In terms of most practical/utilitarian, the Koss ESP/6 probably should be noted near the front of the pack.
in all seriousness i was in my local headphone shop and the Shure srh1440/1840 and the sennheiser HD 700 packaging were all really good in the packaging.
