Currently up doing the DSD Dance: To DSD or not with the DAC? I could save a lot by getting the existing box spec'd out for DSD playback. This would leave change inside the tea tins for a new amp purchase. However, getting a new DSD capable DAC would limit the new amp spending - perhaps, no new amp at all.

Shopping and evaluating options really is fun, though. As, none of these potential new purchases are needed. Just pure

Everybody on headfi is the same person. You are all me talking to myself. In my head. I do not even have a computer.

The first post on this thread that seems to tap into the psyche of this place.  Keep up the bad work.

Then there is are the stronger comparisons like 7550 == EX800ST and 7550 === EX800ST which would make more sense for someone who understands Identities in Mathematics could explain better than I could. Often this pops up in programming as well.

7550 ~ EX800ST

Now for your homework class head on over to the iem review thread and create a differential equation to describe them all.

You know, equivalent is not the same as equals.

So the statement 7550 = EX800ST can contradict the statement 7550 is equivalent to EX800ST if you take it to mean that the 7550 and EX800ST are literally the same thing as opposed to being qualitatively equivalent - perhaps they are physically the same thing with a different name on the box for instance.

Then there is are the stronger comparisons like 7550 == EX800ST and 7550 === EX800ST which would make more sense for someone who understands Identities in Mathematics could explain better than I could. Often this pops up in programming as well.

To be a little thick-headed about this:
7550 = EX800ST means, "Assign the properties of the EX800ST to the 7550"
7550 == EX800ST means, "Test whether the EX800ST and 7550 are equivalent in relevant ways"
7550 === EX800ST means, "Test whether the EX800ST and 7550 are equivalent in all possible ways."

Monoprice has them on their website, and they claim it is "Certified". I was under the impression that Apple was going to license the intellectual property, so 3rd party builders could buy the part from an "authorized" supplier, and they could build product once Apple had "Certified" their factory. Maybe that sort of arrangement is now making some parts available?
http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=112&cp_id=11213&cs_id=1083101&p_id=10375&seq=1&format=2

Apple has licensed a few companies to make cables -- Belkin and Amazon also sell own-branded cables. I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon and Monoprice are buying them from the same OEM. But you can count on their cables to be legit.

What I wonder about, mostly, is whether adapting a generic Lightning data cable to use as a transport interconnect will work properly. Part (or most, I dunno) of the logic in the head of the Lightning connector is for negotiating pin assignments and properties with the Apple device.

Now that Apple has finally been granted patents for some aspects their Lightning connectors, the functional specs are publicly available and the Chinese companies ought to be able to churn out counterfeit cables that are a little more reliable than their first generations of knockoffs.

This is pretty sad: Sony makes most of its money selling insurance. At least according to some investment and hedge fund managers who would love to whip up public interest in seeing Sony broken up and sold in pieces, since that's where they make their own profits.

Well at least Sony is getting back on the tracks with its new electronics, which is becoming one of the best in a highly competitive market IMO.

They recommend that Sony shut operations on the division their entire reputation is built out from.

What a fitting picture that wall street wants to rip the heart out of Sony.

Prolly meant 7550

EX8005ST    x ≈ y means x is approximately equal to y.

Or most prolly, 7550

EX8005ST   x || y means x is incomparable to y.

Okay here now let me get this straight.

Sony went into the insurance market and made money.

Sony went into the Film and Music business and made money.

Some Wall Street hustlers now want that same company to break itself up because they say so.

Why does Sony need  advice from some hedge fund crooks trying to bail themselves out of the last financial crises?

Taking advice from Wall Street these days makes about as much sense as learning the Torah from a Nazi.
