So you decided on the Paradox DF, did you go for the basic model or get some fancy paintjobs?

I'm trying to decide between the Paradox or the HE400 at the moment.

Hope it works out well for you!

I haven't decided yet. I've already got the materials sent and I've asked for the mid price range which would include a paint job but not the fancier headband. Right now LFF is rather busy with some personal business so I told him to just throw my stuff to the side until January and we would finalize the details then.

I have always liked Leckerton - they make products with a good combination of form & function. I just wish the price of their products didn't keep going up with every iteration of their models.

I've said above that there is no society without market economy. Even command economy can't exist without market relations. You confuse notions of command economy and socialism. Socialism is an ideology, it's more than economic system.

That is why we hate socialism because it's ideology. Centralized regulation and some forms of command economy are absolutely necessary for any society. What communists tried to do in the Soviet Union was to create pure 100% command economy without any private property. Mission impossible. The only way to create such a state according to Lenin was by violence and dictatorship of proletariat. He couldn't see a peaceful way to achieve that. All the so called command economies are connected with dictators without exceptions. The reason of it is because pure command economy is not possible to support without oppression and isolation.

Err...what?  I never mentioned socialism.  There can be non-socialist/communist/lenninist/marxist/whatever command economies too.  There is a continuum between market and command but when a paticular example swings heavily one way or another I think such a label can be fairly applied.

Darwinism and Marxism are examples of materialistic doctrines which went too far ( too radical) and both were created at the time when people believed that science can take place of religion. Science can't misplace religion. And religion shouldn't interfere into material life.

Also let's not confuse the source with the interpretation of the source. I would actually wholly agree that "Darwinism" and "Marxism" have been taken too far---- but NOT by Marx and Darwin themselves.

Would someone please tell me what the hell "Darwinism" is.  I know Dawkins like to use it a lot but I think it's pretty damn stupid since just about nobody on his 'side' uses it to mean what he means by it and to those on the other 'side' it just reinforces their misconception that it's some kind of ideology or religion.

There are really only 3 things I think you could call "Darwinism".  It starts with Darwin's original observation that the variability of traits within a species combined with environmental attrition and success in breeding can cause the average traits to change over time and create new species.  Later the discovery of genetics and DNA provided a separate line of evidence that confined his idea and was incorporated into it creating a theory sometimes called neo-Darwinian synthesis.  The latest continuation of Darwin's basic idea is to generalize the theory of evolution to other systems which include elements with imperfect replication and non-random 'survival' which based on their characteristics.  This includes things like evolutionary algorithms that already have practical uses in engineering and computer science as well as things that haven't quite gotten of the ground yet like memetics.

The last one is what Dawkins means when he says "Darwinism".  It might trace back to Darwin but since then other people have advanced these ideas far beyond his original work.  In philosophy, politics, art, or religion it might be more common to keep calling and idea by the name of the person who came up with it but that's a rarity in science.  If the things I listed qualify as ideologies then we might as well call F=MA Newtonism and E=MC^2 Einsteinism.  Does that mean nukes count as taking Einstein 'too far'?

So seriously, what do you mean by "Darwinism"?

I am staying out of the political ideology fight here, as I never got past Marx for Dummies. However, as an ex-evolutionary biologist, I will say that Darwinism is an out-dated term, that can only be regarded as an historical relict. Darwinian evolution was limited by what Darwin could observe, He had no idea of underlying mechanisms. Still his framework and explanatory system has proven robust over all the years since Origin.

I agree it's outdated as a scientific term.  OTOH, there are plenty of religious fundamentalists who keep the term alive as some kind of derogatory slur against atheists.  As if atheism followed logically from evolution or atheists gathered for weekly readings from Origin.

I'm assuming Romy doesn't actually mean this definition but the context doesn't fit any of the more scientific definitions so IDK.

Nice.  Now if only he'd combine the 6MKII's DAC and amp with the 4's crossfeed and digital pot...

That's actually Spencerism.  It's not a very good description of natural selection either.

And where did Spencer get his idea?

"Herbert Spencer first used the phrase – after reading Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species – in his Principles of Biology (1864), in which he drew parallels between his own economic theories and Darwin's biological ones, writing, "This survival of the fittest, which I have here sought to express in mechanical terms, is that which Mr. Darwin has called 'natural selection', or the preservation of favoured races in the struggle for life."[1]"

All aboard the hype train!! http://www.head-fi.org/t/635846/heir-audio-tzar-90-and-tzar-350-universal-in-ear-monitors

Although I don't own anything by Heir I've grown to respect them. The vast majority of people seem to really like their IEM's and if I remember right augedee is also a proud owner of a Heir 4A custom. Interesting though, it seems Heir Audio is moving fast to try and get various products out that will appeal to various market segments. I'm rather surprised they're even going to start pushing their own mobile amp.

I gotta admit those are aesthetically some nice looking woodiee IEM's.

OTOH after reading the thread you linked us to I see what you're saying. Guess there's nothing left to say except hang on ladies and gentlemen the bullet train is about to depart

BUT I have to say though, that gray one is a joy to look at. So beautiful. I much prefer subdued metallic aesthetics more than wood, but that's the second wooden one that I really fond of. The first one is the TH900. That urushi man... I can't believe that someone would even dare to replace that cups with a somewhat more mediocre-looking wood cups. *cough*LA*cough*

Iunno, I seem to have been very cynical as of late. It's like somehow I tend to be so tired looking at all this audio stuff. New thing this, upcoming thing that, new Messiah-phone this, new giant killer that, and then there's the Hypewagon 9001 ones. It's weird I think. I don't have a lot of chance to try various gear, yet I somehow act like I am already fed up with everything.
