Well, the Plattan is fairly inexpensive and comes in just about any color you can imagine. Sure the sound quality isn't great, but then I personally find the K550 a wholly unpleasant listen and it costs several hundred bucks. So in a way I find the Plattan less offensive.

That being said, I'm having a difficult time trying to decipher just what criteria that guy was using when compiling his list. Seems to be all over the place, with no rhyme or reason behind it.

Yeah I know what you mean. Seems like he just grabbed what ever 9 headphones he could find and threw in the HD700 just so he could say he had a high end headphone in his list. I'm half tempted to email the author and ask what his criteria was for compiling the list and how he went about scoring the gear and what source he used to arrive at his final results.

Since we were talking about pets yesterday I had a dream last night where I got a cat fetus in a plastic capsule from a quarter machine.

I put the fetus in water and then it grew into a kitten in a matter of minutes and then a near-adult one not long after.  Jerry didn't get along with the new cat at first, but everything worked out after awhile and the new cat was pretty sweet, but a bit quiet.

Hello, since you guys all seem pretty straightforward, I wanted to ask you a question : does it not seem that some people on headfi like audio equipment much more than they like music? This seems odd to me.

Despite being a musician, I am more of a 'sound enthusiast' than a music lover.

As much as I like listening to the music, I could just stare at the Zana Deux and be quite content with it. Something about those big honkin' 6c33 triode tubes on it is mesmerizing. Helps heat my listening room, too!

Playing FTL and apparently naming the ship (a Federation Cruiser) "Anime Thread" and the crew tilpo (human), borisu (mantis), me (jgray91, rockman) and mechy (engi) gets all of us killed by sector 5 (tilpo and mechy was killed by giant space spiders while me and borisu were killed in a boarding action by pirates). Just got off a devastating ship fight against a rebel drone, ship just one point of being destroyed, crewed by a slave i picked up before we were all slaughtered. This game is a bitch, and such fun and I recommend it to anyone.

This ghetto-fi rig is Mr Smiley approved

DF, I don't know if there are Walmarts in Canuckland (a simple google search could probably solve that), but I got my desk and chair from there:

The desk was about $30, and the chair was $50. There's plenty of room where the books are to store all those headphones on individual stands, like the cheapo $7 one my DT880 is resting on.

Lol thanks but there's not enough room in my bedroom for a desk. The rest of the house is spoken for by the family and my old desk was commandeered by my moms desktop so small pullout TV stand and stool it is for me. By the way love the chair. I bought my mom a similar one from WalMart last Xmas

Ah, I see. Still, it's only about double the width of your current ghetto control station

That sounds like some kind of short story.

Hey a_recording it's good to see you on thread again welcome back.

I'm going offline for a couple of hours and giving my ears a break. I've been listening to music almost nonstop since 10 AM this morning and it's now almost 6:30 PM on my end. I need to get some air and go see what the corner of my outside world is up to.
