REVIEW - COLORFLY C3
Sep 11, 2012 at 5:24 AM Post #121 of 807
Mine arrived yesterday from bigbargainonline. Brilliant packaging, no customs charge. I bought the 8GB version. Paired it up with my UM3X IEMs. All I have to compare it with so far is my Sony X1060. And I've put all FLAC on it so far, compared to mp3 on my Sony. Very pleased with the sound, excellent value for money. I won't pretend to be a true audiophile, but I like a good sound, and I'm very pleased with the detail and soundstage from the C3. A bargain.

Great stuff, welcome to the small but growing club :)

Thanks for the review, do you consider it soundwise as good as the x series, better?

I would say soundwise it gives a nicer sound, but I would have to load identical mp3 320k tracks to compare. At the moment I have FLAC on the colorfly and mp3 on the sony, so ot a fair comparison. I have really enjoyed the sound of the sony for the last two years, I just wanted a good flac player. I may look at the F806 as well when the 32GB is available in UK.

Mine should be here at the end of the week if it doesn't get held up in customs. I have also ordered a Sansa Clip Zip too for comparison as what I have at the moment as a source is an unmodded 5th Gen iPod video running into a Fiio E7 via a LOD cable. I've never had one of Sandisk's players either, so it should make for an interesting comparison for me of the three DAP's :)

If i still had the rocoo to do it I could but probably still wouldn't bother, there were other players that i had that i preferred that I had at the same time as the rocoo.  Tbh i did not see the Rocoo as good enough an improvement over a rockboxed clip zip to warrant such a price jump, more power yes but then i dont use particularly hard to drive phones.  Again I am not saying the rocoo is a bad player etc its just not for me, others certainly enjoy it.  I like hisound as a company and as stated in the review I was pleasantly surprised by the PAA-1 Hisound earbuds that the Ebay seller had chosen to include and I have yet to try the Studio V which i have heard is supposedly quite good.

Once you here the C3 you will know what i mean, if anyone is around in Scotland or Dubai I would be more than willing to hook up for a coffee and let you debut it.

I'm very interested
Time & place, please.

Ordered one for $114. Should arrive in 10-12 days.
Am hoping it will be a good match with my low impedance (8 ohms) & highly sensitive (125db), K3003.

Just noticed that all c3 on eBay are showing only Chinese manual in the description, isn't Colorfly somewhere from Europe (at least their website is colorfly.eu)?
Is there any possibility of them being fake or something... i hope not.

It is a chines company, its entire support base is chines. There is no such thing as european audiophile DAP. cant promise you if it is fake or not but the company itself is chines.

No, Colorfly is a Chinese brand. I would probably be more worried if there wasn't a Chinese manual LOL
