Hello,
my 540A has a strange problem. I noticed a low buzz or humm in my headphones, completely unrelated to volume. The strange thing is that it is gone when I rotate the balance to the right, but it persists if it's set to a middle or to the left. Where should i look for the problem? Service might be a problem since I don't have my warranty anymore.
My setup: CA Topaz CD5 -> CA 540A -> Beyerdynamic DT880.
I don't think this is a grounding problem since the buzz disappears after fiddling with the balance control.
