They come with 2 sets of cables, blue and black, and a very different sound signature than the UE900.

But then why would they do an 'update' without announcing it and even claimed that there has been no update?

UE900 MSRP has always been US$399 so there hasn't been any price change as well (other than for the fact that streets prices differ).

Looks exactly like what I bought and I love them too. Just trying to get to the bottom of why the packaging, their webpage, and some side by side comparisons have shown the UE 900s as being an all blue body and why what you and I have are a blue body with black connectors like the UE 900 are.

They came with the blue cables connected, I just preferred the cable without the volume control, but they picture of the UE900s have blue body with black connectors too just like mine.

uelover, in case you missed this earlier in the thread. At this point we already know the 900s are different with some changes. The question is not if they are similar or not, we already know they are not, the question is why Logitech is acting like they are identical and don't address the photos that people here provided them? It's crystal clear that the 900s should be different based on vids and photos that are available online. The only thing we cannot confirm is how do they sound compare to the UE 900.

When you go to the UE 900s webpage, they show the headphones with blue connectors on the IEM themselves and black connectors on the cable. The UE 900s you and I both bought have a black connector on the IEM and a black connector on the cable. There are also a few links floating around the last handful of pages here that show the difference between the UE 900s and UE 900. What you and I both have do not look like the new UE 900s should even though they were packaged in a UE 900s box.

When I was replacing my UM3x last year, I was asked to tried the UE900 and I didn't like them at all, lack of sub bass in general so I bought another pair of UM3x. Two weeks ago, my UM3x died again so I was going to get the UM Pro 50 but they sounded super bad and I was asked to try the the UE900s. I told them I didn't like the UE900 but they said to me they are completely redesigned with a totally different sound signature, and they were right. Very clear sounding with lots of details, and good sub bass too, nowhere near the deep extension of SE 846, but pretty good too me, a bit like the UM3x with more details at the top. Sound isolation may not be as much as the UM3x but guess you can't have everything. I'd totally recommend it to anyone who could afford them.

AccessoryJack has the 900s, I am almost tempted to place an order and see what comes in the box.

Would be an interesting experiment. Considering the only all blue body ones that anyone has seen are from that unboxing video, I'd guess you'd get the ones that look like what the rest of us have.

Maybe because they are the Asian version, the box has Chinese and Korean printed on it. They definitely don't sound like the UE900 for sure.

This is pretty interesting. I have the 900 S/N 1242 no gold connectors. The sound is very clear and good, the bass is deep and strong and I never felt I was missing bass, and this comes from someone who likes bass. While I have never tried the UM3x. Could it be that the 900 that tried and didn't like were somehow faulty?

It was hard to remember exactly what the UE900 sounded like as it was like a whole year ago, but I basically use the UM3x as my reference (for the last 4 years) and judged everything in relation to them and I remembered I didn't like them at all because there wasn't enough sub bass. I mean the UM900s isn't a bass monster either but I like the details and clear sounding in the highs, but still have enough sub bass to keep them sounding balanced. The UE900 to me was a bit thin sounding as far as I could remember.

No, mine have the blue body with the black connector too, although the ones on the picture of the box have the blue bodies with blue connectors.

So it looks like Danz03 has the Asian version that does have the new shell.

Is it possible that the US versions have all been mis-packaged with UE900 shells?

Have just watched the UE900 vs UE900s video by e-earphone. Understood the following:

SQ wise, the person mentioned that the UE900s retains the sound signature of the UE900 but improves upon the mids and the lows of the UE900.

In particular, he finds the low range to be wider on the UE900s. Vocal was also strengthened.

Built Wise, MMCX cable connector is different (red circle) - UE900s has a unibody as compared to UE900:

Driver configurations (yellow arrow) between UE900 and UE900s are different. So is the sound bore (green arrow):

UE900s has a red ring on the right side of the cable. Black cable is thicker than the one on UE900.

I think there was some mention on the gold plating on the connector pin which I didn't manage to catch in the video.
