Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread

I got FIIO RC-SE1 cable on Friday and it's okay. The cable is sturdier and don't get tangled up so easily, but there is also more microphonics. I can't say much about SQ since I haven't been ABing, but it's definitely not worse than with stock cable.

The cable has been precurved with some plastic over the cable, but it's almost indistinguishable. Not bad for 28€

Nice impressions! For me I definitely noticed an improvement in sound quality. The sound was overwhelming at first but it has then settled down to a sound slightly better than stock, while still keeping the original sound sig of the stock.

Pretty happy with this cheap FiiO cable. :)

I get that a lot most of the time I don't tell them the price.i had people try them out because they were curious as to what they are and would tell me they sound great but when ask how much are they, my response will make them change there opinion of them, other would discredit them because of bass and because of the revealing nature of them. One person told me they sound too live for them. I'm guessing most people are not use to hearing what the song truly sound like. I rember being the same way at one point. The way you wear them plays a role also. More then once I had people think they where going to be uncomfortable because the stlye reminded them of work out/sport headphone which I'm guessing are not comfortable based on this reaction

I'm an ex basshead. I started buying expensive phones last year and my first two were Sony XBA-40 and JVC FXZ200 because I wanted heavy bass (they are great, but not for me anymore). Time passed and I rapidly changed opinion on what is good music for my ears. Nowadays my preferred phones are UE900 and Westone 4 not only for their great sound quality but also because of perfect fit. I want clean, crispy sound; in the end I guess I'm searching for the perfect neutral IEM.

Just like everything else sound is something that acquired from experience in order to fully appreciate it. You just can't jump from 1 doller headphone to 400. It the same when it comes to food, wine, theater, literature ECT...

Hi all,

New to the party but have owned dozens of different items at various price points. Recently traded my collection for a pair of Shure 535s & a pair if UE900s... I just don't get the fuss about the UE 900s - they're really not top tier next to 535s with the right tips. Are there many UE900 fakes about cos mine're really lame for the money?

There no fakes. The ue 900 sound vary depending on source. Some sorce make them sound ok but you feel like something missing other bring it to life and they sound amazing but there no real wow factor with them everything for the most part is subtil also maybe your pin hole size bore needs to fill up a little before they sound good, the sound changes when this happens
