has anybody replaced the stock cable? So far I experienced not a single issue with my UE 900 and it's been over a month, yet the stock cable is indeed annoying. What custom cables for UE 900 can you recommend which you actually tried and not just heard about? Is the Null Audio Lune Mk III any good? Anyone owns it?

Comply tips come with this little 'wax protection' filter, if you like complys (I don't). What's so wrong with cleaning your ears daily btw? Real men shower weekly, huh?

The Comply that come with the UE 900 have no wax filter.  As for cleaning your ears daily, there is no reason to clean your ears daily unless you are swimming or doing something similar.  Taking a shower will not clean your ears.

If your getting wax in your ue900s then I think your inserting them too deep. You should select a larger tip to give a seal on the outer ear for best sound.

You just contradicted yourself. The reason would be to not to get ear wax on your (c)iems. You neither can die nor hurt your ears from keeping them clean.
 
Complys that come with UE900 are TS-500 and nobody said they come with any wax filters. There are also Comply Tsx-500, though, which feat. the same shape and sizing yet do have wax filters. Google them. If you are having wax issues, why not to try them?

That's definitely not how my parents raised me. Ears need to be cleaned daily. I use my wet finger under the shower and afterwards use the cotton stick for the deeper part.
For me, this is as important as brushing my teeth. I never forget to do it.
 
Urgh, I will not consider purchasing 2nd hand IEMs for a while, thanks.

Both of you need to figure out the use of ear wax in the body.  Putting stuff into your ears without a medical professional present can be quite dangerous.  Espcially sticking cotton sticks deep into your ear.  You actually aren't cleaning your ears by doing that, you're just shoving wax deeper down.

You really didn't have to dig too far into the article.  It's normal to have earwax.  Unless it intrudes upon your hearing, or causes irregular resonance (ringing), there is no need to remove it, it actually is beneficial to have.

This is true, but you don't need excess amounts of it. I'm no doctor, but I believe you only need a thin film of the wax to do its job of protecting the ear canal. Removing the excess will not cause harm as long as you don't go too deep and are careful about it.
 
I've been cleaning my ears (not on a daily basis, but fairly regularly) for long enough to know that it has caused me no problems. I've never had an ear infection and my ears don't ever get clogged. All I'm saying is that it isn't unsafe if done properly. Using some kind of chemical to completely strip the wax from your ears would be when I would assume that problems could present themselves, but not from just a regular light swab.
 
Anyway, that is all personal preference. Clean your ears or don't. I don't care! They aren't my ears, or my IEMs. Lets get back to the topic!
