Hi,

I just auditioned some HD800s with some stock cables and some Cardas Clear cables in my home this week (library loaners). I did feel like I heard an improvement with my rig (Grace Design m903 using the 1/4" HF jack) in terms of bass response, airiness of the sound stage and smoothing out the high frequency. These are $536 cables. I mostly listen to jazz, blues, rock and classical music.

I am convinced that cables can enhance their performance over stock cables. I just don't know which ones to consider. So I could just buy the Cardas Clear cables OR  I could consider some other aftermarket options from ALO Audio, Cardas, Double Helix, Moon Audio, Norse Audio, Stefan Audio Art, or Toxic Cables for example. Given my DAC/Amp, musical tastes and the HD800s what aftermarket cables should I consider along with the Cardas Clear?

Thanks,

Bob

I just tried the Q Cable website

http://www.q-audio.com/

They seem to only make offerings for Audeze and Hifiman. I see no offerings for Sennheisers.

You just have to PM Steve or send him an email. He'll bang them out for you.

I'd also suggest the plain Cardas cable. Both are fairly priced.

Based on some Headfi searching these companies all seem to make HD800 aftermarket cables. I have heard only one; Cardas Clear and thought that it was an improvement over stock cables. I am curious about alternatives being a novice in these waters.
