Tralucent Audio 1Plus2 IEM (Now With 'New' 1Plus2.2!) Impressions Thread

I tried the L size of ortfon tips( hate this crappy name) today. It stays in my ears just like S and M tips although I get a little discomfort when yawning xD
I didn't feel any sound signature difference between them but soundstage. I get better separation when using L tips but less detail comparing to other tips, and with S/M tips I hear more micro-details in the background but more centric sounding.
Also I have noticed that sibilant problem on 1+2 is not bothering me anymore..It has more controlling on that area :D

Burn in . I'm even finding tracks like Lady Gaga that is super aggressive in the treble is being handled with ease on the 1Plus2s. Something I am not use to at all.

So are people who have heard some exaggerated sibilance initially finding that it tones down after a few hours of use? With the delays of the demo tour I've been debating trying to work out my finances to just buy a pair but the reports of sibilance issues has holding off.

I think it's just matter of personal preferences. I don't have any problem with it and I have pretty picky ears.

I never really had much issues in regards to sibilance. Although if it is indeed a part of the track you can expect it. But they have definitely improved with burn in. Stuff like Lady Gaga which is usually brutal to my ears can be listened to at higher volume levels without discomfort. Something I am not use to at all as a matter of fact.

...and because they are of course universals tips can make a significant impact on sonics...

right now for example, i have a large ortofon on the R and a large sony hybrid on the L....it's early but so far i'm not noting any disparities between the two sides; it is the only way i've found to get a proper seal besides de-cored shure olives but they seem to darken up the sound a tad, not to mention the annoying feature of them staying in my ear canal rather than on the IEM when i take them out...

until now i've never really been forced to use silicone tips as foamies anyways worked the best....YMMV

Do T500 Comply's still work on the new version? Because of a sensitivity or allergy to silicone tips that's about my only option outside of Shure tips but the Shures don't fit.

Are you in Canada? If so order them from Marco Polo on eBay, there around $15 or $16 for 3 pair with free shipping.

Honestly, I should be comparing FitEar 111 to 334 or something. But that would be boring and personally I thought this would be more exciting (?). I will admit it right here, I’ve never really listened to FitEar 111 much until recently. Overall, it’s pretty “flat” IEM. As for EX1000, I certainly have said a lot of “negative” things about it and that have always bothered me.

The thing with 111 is that it’s extremely flat, vocals are flat, everything’s flat or at least it sounds like it. Due to this trait, some may actually find muffled (i.e vocals being brighter, thus easier to hear or w/e)  When I usually think “flat” I think everything being really rigid, and cold but surprisingly it is smooth.

  1. Flat
  2. Good instrumental separation.
  3. Vocals are not back nor in front
  4. Some may find it muffled

EX1000, some people love it and some people hate it. I don’t hate it nor love it. I certainly see why it has attracted so many Head-Fi members. It is an all-rounder, but it certainly does have worst seal. Bass is somewhat similar to 1Plus2, crisp but wider and thinner.  I personally find the vocals are bit back and as for instrumental separation it’s either miss or hit, really depends on the mastering.  After comparing 111 and 1Plus2, EX1000 certainly doesn’t do anything better than them. But what makes EX1000 so great is that it blends everything together and creates great harmony.

  1. Some may find it bright
  2. Good instrumental separation
  3. Punchy bass
  4. Worst fitting/seal

My honeymoon period with 1Plus2 is finally over.  Where to begin? It has biggest and thickest bass rumble out of three. It’s tight and not overwhelming. Vocals sounds bit brighter compared to 111 and certainly more in-your-face then EX1000. One thing I’ve noticed is that 1Plus2’s vocal doesn’t sound as far back as before, but it could be my imagination. At times I find too much is happening all at once because it presents everything with ease. I am not saying that it’s a bad thing, but sometimes simplicity is the best you know? Overall, I find 1Plus2 really lively, has that addicting “oomph” trait.

  1. Vocals don’t get in way of instrumentals, vice versa.
  2. Thick and tightly controlled bass
  3. Vocals sounds bit bright, but has really really really nice natural sounding

Nice comparisons. Simply put I prefer my MDR-7550s to the EX1000 by a big margin. Yet I really cant compare the 7550s to the 1Plus2s. Completely different classes of audio quality IMO. I just feel underwhelmed and bored listening to the Sony in comparison to put it in perspective. Just not comparable . I figure its better to put it bluntly than sugar-coat it.

Haha, I didn't want to come out biased or anything :p
