Ok thanks guy's. I find soundstage wider at the lowest position in the middle position it seems clearer. At the highest setting the soundstage seems to narrow down. I have it set in the middle setting 2ohm with Astell Kern ak120 titan on Pro equaliser setting and I have to say it sounds amazingjust not getting the bass I was expecting . I have the Centrance hifi-m8 connected via a wireworld supernova 7 optical cable. Can you guy's see a weak link anywhere. I listen to Katherine Jenkins, Sarah Brightman, Maria Callas etc bass wise I listen to PFM drum and bass. Thanks

Remember the ohm switch is 11,2,1.

I like ohm 2 with gain 2 usually.

The extra gain power seems to bring up the deeper notes and 2 ohm has enough detail and soundstage without over extending.

I agree with that thank you . This amplifier seems to drive the AKG K812 with ease. They have only been burnt in for about 60hrs or so but the detail in the music is so so crystal clear. I prefer crystal clear and wide soundstage over bass but I do want the bass to bash my ears in when it's in the music. This Centrance Hifi-m8 is a fantastic bit of kit I haven't heard better. In fact I auditioned Sennheiser hd800 with their own amp hdv800 sorry I forget the model number to me and my ears it was to smooth and lifeless boring almost. I guess we all have different tastes in sound signatures.

I just got my M8 Classic and loving it. I hate to see any harm come to it so I am thinking of getting a case for it...mulling over the Pelican 1120 case which seems like overkill.  Does anyone have any cheaper suggestions?  Thanks

I have a Pelican 1020.  The HiFi-M8 (just the unit itself) fits very snuggly.  But there's no room for any cables, and certainly not the power supply.  I also bought a case for a 5" GPS unit.  It will fit the HiFi-M8 and cables.  Here's the link:

If you're looking for a case that will hold the power supply too, then I see why you are looking at the Pelican 1120.

Thanks, bahorn! That Amazon case is perfect...I don't need to carry the adapter so this works.

Btw, is there any difference between Centrance Hifi m8 versions in terms of their compatibility with a Walkman like A10 series?

I mean can I use different inputs of Centrance to connect my Walkman, or do I only have a single choice..?

If so, which way would be the one with least and smallest interconnects

You only have a single choice in terms of M8 input, you can only use the USB Type B input with the A10 Series Sony Walkman.

I don't think that NWM10 adapter will work, you need the one pictured in post # 5402, as it enables the A10 Series Walkman to be used in USB Host mode.

It is a WM Port to OTG (on the go) USB cable, Sony part/model# WMC-NWH10. You also need a USB Type A to Type B to finish the connection into the M8.

That NWM10 adapter only allows the use of a micro USB charger if I'm not mistaken.

If that NWM10 also passes data, than you might be able to make it work in conjunction with a generic OTG cable, Micro USB to Type B, which is the plug end type needed for the HiFI-M8's USB input.

I recently purchased the Sony ZX 2. Can I assume the Sony adapter WMC-NWH-10 will allow me to use my ZX 2 Walkman with my M8? Is anyone else using the ZX 2 with their M8? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi does anyone else have issues connecting the m8 to the newest macbook pro with OS X Yosemite? My laptop isn't recognizing the m8 as a sound output so I cannot select it.

I am using Audirvana with my 2014 MacBook Pro and the very latest version of Yosemite (just downloaded the latest updates to Yosemite and ITunes yesterday) and the M8 functions perfectly--no issues whatsoever.

Does the CMB version of M8 output can drive a normal single ended headphones? Or does it have to be balanced?

both combo jacks are stereo and can be used with 1/4" to drive two hps.

Have you tried using a different USB cable or tested it on a PC? I tried connecting my M8 to a friend's Macbook Air and it wasn't recognized until I swapped out the UBS cable. For some reason, the first cheapo cable I used didn't work.
