Not sure if it's been mentioned yet or not but JR and Razerdogdeals (on ebay) has them for sale, $299.99 and $329.99 obo respectively.
 
I still need to go to a BB and try out the K550 :/ Not even sure if my local BB has the headphone wall set up yet.

Damnit. I literally just got a set of K550s and really like them. Only real complaint was the cable length. Now I find out the 551s have what im looking for with a sick silver design. Back to BB these ones go....

I also disdain the font choice AKG uses with the printing of 'K550' on the hinges. The typeface makes the headphone looks cheap.

I too, had the problem of the long cable length so I tied up and reduced the cable down to 1/3-1/2 length. Have you tried that as well?

yeah i tried braiding the cable and it ended up being too short. so i tightened the braid and the length was near perfect but the cable was too stiff and just seemed like one big knot. that cant be good for the cable
