I'm sure enjoying it. The Zip-ZO combination works well with my CAL! and HFI-780s too.

I'm pretty sure that I would be quite happy with that gizmo. But the $100 Canadian (at least) is enough to probably let the impulse pass :frowning2:

Don't blame you there at all, Wayne.
I was always curious about it but never could quite bring myself to pull the trigger.  I think my friend was clearing out stuff he just wasn't using anymore, so in our last trade, there were a couple surprises....the ZO and a Sansa e280 (which I promptly Rockboxed).

These are smaller than S600, right?

Smaller but they sound a whole lot better.

How is that?
A little more details please... More bass? Better sound isolation? Do you actually listened to them? Because you can't really say that based only on reviews (where most of them are praising S600).. And that's the reason why there are so many different opinions, frankly..

PS. I guess I just posted this in a wrong topic...

Well, if you ever want to sell it at a good discount, I'll help you out!

Uh, perhaps if you read the reviews on this thread, you'd get more evidence. But IIRC it was mentioned that these are better than the S600 by someone who had both.

well maybe, but maybe there are other guy on the other side of the planet who thinks different. This "some guy told me" stuff just isn't gonna do... And still, no details.. maybe this GUY listens to some jazz or Bethoween stuff?  Ah, whatever...

It looks like Achmedisdead himself had the S600's. See here.

Edit: some other guy by the name of dsnuts also had the S600's. See here.

I see, but more details are appreciated.
For me, it should have been a heck of a difference in bass response to compromise the size of earpads / comfort. Also, white S600's are way more catchy for me. Not trying to offend anyone in any way, just my opinion, like this SOME GUY.

I edited my post and provided a link to dsnuts' impressions. He'll probably chime in and say why the S500 mops the floor with the S600

Btw, comfort is no longer an issue with the HM5 pads. They add to the price, but are worth it.

I do still have both of them....the S600s are just hanging up on a coathook, where they have been for months....lol

The S500 are more comfortable for me, because I wear glasses. So the earpads don't interfere with my glasses, whereas the S600 pads get right in the way.
The S500 sound better in every regard. The bass goes deeper than the S600, the mids are not recessed like the S600, etc. The build quality is better on the S500, too.....the S600 are always creaking on all the hinge points whenever I move my head.

I got your opinion thanks for that, although it didn't sounded more convincing than hundreds of positive reviews comparing these to sets twice the price, but nothing else to be expected in this kind of thread, well, got at least a couple of negative opinions

. now we will wait till it arrives.

peace out.

"the S600 are always creaking on all the hinge points whenever I move my head."

Never heard of that. Maybe you just got poorly made ones..

I own both as well..Lets just put it this way. There is no HA-S600 thread for a reason. They are decent cans for the cash and has some nice bass but the mids are kinda off on them, mid bass hump...I would go for the HA-S500 every time..It is an advancement in portable sound in just about every way. I do like that the HA-S600 is a tight fitting over ears and they isolate decently but sound wise they are a downgrade..

You know what is JVCs worst sounding cans.? Anyone take a guess?

Believe it or not it is the HA-S700.. You want to piss off someone you buy them that.. I have no idea how JVC can think those sound good to pass QC.

These things have almost no definition in the sound. Overly warm. Muddyness like you guys would not even believe. They sound like you have your head in a heater listening to your music.

This is why I chose them, lol.
I usually tend to reduce mids in EQ, I'am, let's say, nearly basshead, and I do think that, if ever needed, mids and highs can be boosted way easier than bass, I'am not looking for headache-sharp highs or those noisy mids anyway...

So as for me, there might be a close call, but overall S600 seems a better choice. Even if bass is slightly worse, comfort makes it a win.
