when I was buying my first high quality pair of IEMs I was told that the IE8s or the Westone 3s would be the ideal choices for the type of sound I was looking for, I originally had the IE8s for just under a year before the right earphone failed on me and I had them replaced with the IE8i's for an extra £20, I found the sound to be nowhere near the original IE8s and they have also recently broke on me.

I am entitled to a replacement or new earphones of around the same value, I see that Sennheiser have brought out new IE8's but apparently the bass has been reduced in the new models which has really put me off them, my question is over a year later, are the IE8i and the Westone 3 still the best I can get for that bassy sound I want, or are there any news models that have came out recently for around the same price that fit the bill? ( I don't mind spending a little bit extra for a better sound)

Thank you for taking the time to read!

Mate, please make it clear which kind of sound signature you found to fit the bill and the music you listen to. Do you want thumping bass with a lot of impact? Is bass your first order priority? What about mids and highs? Will you care for a big soundstage?

The JVC FX700 would make a nice contender I'd say.

You should read this thread and then make your choice; don't complain how long and extensive it is, just read it and educate yourself:

You'll be glad that you did and may save some coin or two.

I've had both. I liked the ie8's more than the westone 3's. But better than both of those are the jvc fx700. The bass on the fx700's cannot be matched!

You should definately consider buying them.
