Gear:
Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's
Sony mdr7509
(future upgrade) Sennheiser hd580's
PIMETA

Uses (in order): Music, some gaming (speakers are set to 2.1 because I have no room for the surrounds); no DVD.

Right now I have a GTXP and onboard soundstorm, and am leaning towards buying an Audigy 2. I don't plan on ever using digital out, or recording. It would be nice to run dual soundcards (GTXP + [x]).

What would you guys recommend?

M-Audio Revo deserves consideration in the 100$ range.

Definately get the Terratec. Very good sound, and a bargain at $99. I love mine with my PIMETA and HD600s.

I third the Terratec. I bought the 6fire, but definitely would have taken an EWX for the same price. (RCA outputs!

note: I have only heard the 6fire.

Just a quick search shows that it has RCA in/out and optical in/out with support for 2 channels only.....

Any idea whether it will play nicely with my Game Theater XP? If I ever do set up my speakers for surround sound I would like to be able to use them. Also, will it do well with games in stereo?

My PIMETA is built for 1/8th input, so the RCA's would not be a benefit untill I get a new amp, if I ever do.

Right now I still feel more comfortable with either the Revo or the A2.

Not trying to start a debate over this but....what level ($$$) of stand-alone CD players would the sound be comparable to?

Or you could add some RCA inputs to your PIMETA

No, really. It's not all that hard. If you didn't want to do it yourself I bet a builder would do it for you for pretty cheap

Anyways, I just got it yesterday and it has only played for 3 hours....

It is a portable amp, I didn't really want RCA's to be put on it:

I could always use a RCA -> 1/8" adapter
