Anybody else get one today? I was not expecting this kind of audio quality, I think it's a step above my iPhone 4. So far I'm only listening to Pandora too but I have to get stone higher quality files on it.

Also impressive are the IEM's that came with it... they even included a few extra sets of silicone tips. Very little bass but otherwise they aren't bad at all. Buy far the best sound I've ever gotten on something included with a device.

The player just won a best of group review in the August edition of Hi/Fi Choice magazine!

At 159 euros.

If the cover image is correct, then it is referring to the Galaxy Player 4.2....which is not a phone at all...lol.

I read the article and they mention the Galaxy as having a 5inch screen so I think it's the Galaxy Player 5.0 (wifi). Not sure why the people writing the article are calling it the Galaxy S (wifi). Also, why did they choose to test out an older Cowon device (i10) rather than the newer Z2?

To get the thread back on track... after listening for a while I liked the treble, it is highly detailed and non-fatiguing, but found that there was sort of a strange distortion or "warbling" in the mids. I went into the settings and saw that something called "Direct Volume Control" was turned on by default (I guess this is like a LOUDNESS button???) and when I shut it off the mids cleared up nicely. None of the songs I copied onto it have any bass to speak of but I will probably put a lot more of my reference tracks on it tonight. Still, just stock with poweramp I think it sounds better than my iPhone 4. Now I've got to decide whether to buy a 64GB card for it now or wait until 128GB cards are available.

England Hi/Fi is funny that way. They have some different products than the US at times.

becuase magazines are published monthly and are always behind.

But im truly considering a wifi galaxy S 5.0, the 10 hour video and 64 hour audio combined with the MicroSD slot makes it interesting.
The issue is that 800x480 and the 1ghz  procesor makes it a bit weak as a modern android device.

I was disappointed to find out that the stateside versions won't actually have the wolfson chip like the international version does. Also, supercurio (the voodoo sound guy) has stated he won't be working on the non-exynos (sp?) processor phones. Meaning that even if the stateside GSIII's got the DAC he wouldn't support it.

SO all that depressing info aside, I'm excited to hear that you like your GSIII. What carrier did you get it from?

Just order international and un-lock it? No?
