Looking for headphones for $150

Hi,

First post here, so be kind please.

I'm looking for a pair of headphones in the $150 range (am willing to use eBay and the like). They need to look good (will be using them at school), sound good, isolate well enough (don't need active noise cancelling) and be built well. I don't like on-ears, so please only give suggestions for over-ears and in-ears. Also, I don't like the look of wood headphones. I prefer the look of metal (like V-Moda's line of products) I will be using these at school, and for gaming. I'd prefer them to be foldable, but it's not a must.

I don't claim to be an audiophile, and the highest-end headphones I've ever heard are Skullcandy GIs. I do know that I'd like a good bass response, though.

I've been looking at:

V-Moda Crossfade LP and LP2

Skullcandy Aviators

House of Marley Redemption Song

Please give recommendations for me.

Thanks

Woops, when I meant they had to isolate well, I meant that they shouldn't leak sound. Isolation is still important, though. (don't need active noise cancelling)

In the class of ~$150 and more stylish looks, the Philips Uptown might be another to look into.

I don't like the look of those. Thanks anyway!

It's the brown that gets me. I should have specified, I'm not a fan of brown. I like silver, grey, black, and I like 'metal' looks (if you know what I mean). For example, I really like the looks of V-Moda's headphones, and the Skullcandy Aviators.

Ah, I see. Just throwing out random possibilities. redface.gif I don't really know anything about the rest of those headphones so I can't really help with that, but good luck in your search.

Anyone else?

Welcome to our forum.  For future posts such as this, please include them in the following thread, as opposed to starting up a single thread (which tends to clog things up a bit around here).  Thank you.  May you have a pleasant stay.

Why not get the V-MODA M-80s? Excellent sounding portables. They don't fold but they're easy to stow away. They're also very comfortable for an on ear.

Also while I am a fan of the Aviators, they don't have good isolation at all. The M-80s also sound better unamped and have better build quality.

I think I might wait for the M100s, as I'm not a fan of on-ears.

I'm going to recommend the Ultrasone HFI580/DJ1 headphones.  Very nicely built and isolate rather nicely.  The 580 has a nice silver/black theme, while the DJ1 has a black and white theme.  They do fold up as a nice plus.  Fantastic bass on these.  They run at about 110-130 on amazon.

That's what I'm waiting for as well.

Ooh, they do look good. I think I'll still wait for the M100, so that I can look at reviews. So far, it's between the Ultrasone and the M100.
