Lab 2 or PF, the design is weird !

PF series are not meant to seal in your ears, these are open back iems.

For isolation you must go for the heaven series

the ear forms an air chamber with most regular IEMs, by not having this the bass can drop quite dramatically, no?

Actually all depends on your ear tips, I tried several with the Fibass before getting the right one (large silicon red neck from my budget Fiio EX1), these are not like Sony to be compatible with mostly every ear tips but FAD are quite picky.

With the right fit, bass quality and quantity is phenomenal!

However PF series doesn't use ear tips, so it will entirely depends on your ear canals' shape and size. Pinoyman reported very poor bass from the PFX CC, I don't know much about the PF but I love my Fibass
