I own both of them. I would said it the same sound signature. However, I could not said much since X CC are 2nd hand while G is new when I owned. I would said there are 2 main factors that would make FAD sound different.
 
Burn in:
 
Three of used PF X CC that I used to own and sold out two of them. They also minor different some had more bass some wider stage. 
 
While my X G compare to jaben X G also different
 
I found out this PF X is very sensitive to the burn in process especially first 20 hr since I ask my specialist to proper burn in new X G and give him a request on more bass impact and deep wider stage. After proper burn in it sound different from other X I owned.
 
Country of original. 
FAD is based on Japan but also had OEM factory in other country. They also had different packaging in Asia EU and Japan.
 
I donot know about PF X since all of my X from Japan and the top model may be produce in Japan.
However, I found FAD heaven IV from Japan sound better than 6 of heaven IV from Jaben Thailand.

Ian, I finally was able to sit down tonight and listen to your Nick Drake album from start to finish. What a wonderful album. Thank you so much for sharing. As I was listening, an auditory memory came to me and I knew I had heard and loved a similar artist, but hadn't listened to them/him in some time. So I meticulously combed my music collection this evening frantically searching for what I knew was/is an artist in the same vein as Nick Drake. For the life of me, I could not find what I was looking for, even asking google in many different iterations.
 
After an hour or so of non-stop searching, I realized that the album I was thinking of was/is the Garden State movie soundtrack. This is an album that is quite close to my heart. I hunted down every artist on the album (at least I thought at the time) and bought all of their albums in 2004. Keep in mind this is almost 10 years ago, and my memory isn't what it used to be. So tonight as I am examining each artist's contribution, in track-listed order, I finally get to track number 8, by Nick Drake. This is the artist I was searching for all the time, and was the memory/song/artist I was seeking! A fantastic musical circle you have provided me. And, btw, his music was made for the PF's. Cheers!!

As I mentioned in the past I got an unusually early introduction to Nicks work via my much older cousin who loved his albums and as child I used to love listening to them with him (I know, an odd 7 year old I agree!). He really broke big in the UK thanks to Volkswagen! They used Black Eyed Dog on one of their commercials there and I was going, hey, thats Nick!

I had so many people come up to me saying hey did you hear that great piece of music on the Volkswagen commercial do you know what it is? ( I should explain that I had and still do have a fairly minor roll in the music biz so friends knew I had an eclectic taste in music, I had back in the eighties literally thousands of records, tapes and those new fangled CD's!) and I jumped for glee in telling them who it was..

Of course back then his stuff was not easily available so I had to do a number of cassettes for friends until due to that commercial they brought his catalog out on CD!

Oh and, I never ever tire of your posts, keep posting, they are always so interesting.

Just finished listening to Bryter Layter (on Spotify) with my PF IXs and, though a pretty good album, I'm sorry to say that it simply cannot compare to Five Leaves Left, the latter being a much truer album, with a rare quality to it. I'll always be grateful to you, Ian, for the recommendation, a recommendation like this really is a true gift (at least for me).

i have to say of all the albums 5 leaves is my favourite as well. I have the boxed set CD collection and that has an extra CD called time of no reply. It is an album of alternative takes and out takes and I recommend that one. One track, black Eyed Dog, man, you should hear the finger picking in that.. In fact!

Hey James, you forgot to quote ianmedium, ("I have to say of all the albums 5 leaves is my favourite as well"). 
 
Anyway, I know where you're coming from—and there were indeed 2/3 tracks I really thought were great—but at this stage in my life, believe me, I usually can tell when I personally need to listen to something a few more times to be able to come to a final decision / conclusion (like some Bartok music I heard some 20 years ago where I knew almost instantly I really needed more time to assess that music properly, which, incidentally, then became some of the best music I've heard to date). That, of course, does not mean I'll never be surprised again / proven wrong, but I did get a very clear feeling that Five Leaves Left was on a different music level [perhaps in 'my' so-called "Music with a capital "M"" type of assessment). But, knowing who this disagreement comes from, I will indeed give it a couple more tries and report back, even when such disagreement comes from Mr Utterly Uncool.

Here's something quite different, a track not found on YouTube, a bootleg recording of one of PG's early gigs after he left the music industry (in 1975) for (what turned out to be) a couple of years, after all the madness of touring and the crazy demands of the music industry that was very seriously affecting his personal life). Here, it is Gabriel's 'less than perfect' voice and RF's rather peculiar / angular guitar playing that really take the musical cake, to these ears (note that audiences didn't know RF was actually playing with PG as he went by the name of Dusty Rhodes then and refused to have a spotlight pointing his way during all the gigs that formed part of this tour):  https://www.hidrive.strato.com/lnk/vU4Kt535 (once again, grab it while you can). The 160Xs do a mighty fine job here delivering a great sense of space and a superb rendering of mid frequencies.
