Unique Melody Platform Pure 6 (PP6) - review (1st post), discussion, appreciation, & tour thread

I have been in contact with Stephen recently, as I sent my Miracles for remoulding. He did say expected release is next month and estimated price of $2000. He did not give me any other details.  I did have one gripe with my Miracles, that’s why I sent them for remoulding, the edging around the titanium plates was bad so it was lifting. This is my first pair of CIEM and it was disappointing but when I spoke to Stephen he said I should just send them back with a note stating what is wrong and it will get sorted out. As far as customer service is concerned I am happy. But I am waiting patiently for the PP6 specs and reviews, as I love my Miracles.

OMG, I am following average_joe and somehow I missed this thread completely!! It might have been from when I had down time when building my computer. Never-the-less, I have found it now.

This product sounds really promising! I don't know much about active and passive cross overs, but I think I have a grasp on it now from reading this thread. The concept sounds really promising, I'd be really interested to see the reviews on them, and comparing it directly to the JH-3A solution.  It would be really nice if it came with an async USB input like the CLAS and HP-P1, enabling portable use of the PP6 unit.

What I don't understand though is if the JH-3A does not have an active cross over, like the PP6 system does, then how does the JH-3A with the JH-16 differ from the normal JH16 with a discrete dac and amp.

Anyway I am really intrigued with this product, look forward to reviews!

I must learn to resign myself to get PP6 and to compare with my JH-3A...

you cannot have a phase correct signal with a cap and analogue XO in the signal path, no matter the quality or position of the components. without feedback of some sort the amp in the JH3A cannot know the effects to correct for and I imagine measuring the output of the transducers and then correcting the profile in an analogue manner seems like a very tall order. it seems to me more like tri-amping, which can be very good, but in my experience loses to fully active, particularly digital convolved XOs. this tri-amping will improve efficiency vs a single amp and allow the filter for each driver to be simpler (simpler is BETTER for passive XOs). Are the passive XOs really still in the jh3a? if so then yep, not even really an active XO, digital OR analogue

dielectric absorption rules this out, caps are by definition non-linear and NOT phase correct. that, steeper slopes, possible correction for the 'room' and 'cabinet', time alignment and far greater efficiency are where digital active XO's = win. Obviously efficiency isnt such a huge deal here vs the advantages with speakers, one would assume anyway

I believe starting from means no special artworks and such.

Ahh I see. On retrospect my post might seem offensive and I'm sorry if it was. I just thought we still had to pay more for sound. Love your artwork tho.

All in all still can't wait for it! Excited
