Hey guys my first post here after scouring these forums for weeks (most of which coming before making an account). I'm wondering which full sized headphones to upgrade to in the 100-200 dollar range. So far i have read that the Audio Technica ATH-M50 is the best headphone hands down in that price range. I' currently running the meelectronics A151 through the fiio e10 from my macbook pro. I listen to anything. Appreciate it

Do you want something bassy or neutral? How important is portability (would you get an amp)? Do you require a closed headphone, or are you okay with an open one, too? Do you want something more detailed or more vivid?

The ATH-M50 is no longer the king at its price, especially with recent hikes.

Im ok with open or closed and portability is a non factor because the e10 is non portable. Im looking for something more vivid but doesn't sacrifice detail for it. I have the meelectronics a151 which are neutral, warm and detailed so bass will be a step up on theses even with headphones that are considered to have little bass. Also, my price range has changed to 200 to 300 dollars with some flexibility

Ive been looking at the D2000 and the Beyerdynamic dt880/770/990 and am willing to go out of my budget to get one. Do you guys know if the e10 will be enough to drive them. they have the same innards basically as the e17 just without the battery

The E10 will drive them just fine.

OT: The E17 will be worth it if your using a laptop, they have notoriously bad onboard DACs, if its a desktop get a Beyer and a STX

Thats what I meant,
laptop dacs = bad
iPhone dac = good
STX dac = great
Benchmark DAC1, Yulong Sabre... = Summit
