Hi All,

I posted here quite a while ago, and through this site i was able to gain the confidence to go ahead and buy a pair of Koss Portapro (black). They were pretty awesome. I broke them a total of 3 times, and the first two times i was easily able to send them back to Koss and have new ones given to me for a measly 3 dollars. Deal! However this last time not only did i break them, but i now cant find the pieces to them anywhere and without those pieces i cant send them in for repair/exchange. However i feel this has given me an opportunity to move onto better cans, possibly.

My budget is still about 50 bucks (im willing to go slightly higher if its worth it, and i would love to get cans that would cost less than 50 of course if they are worth it.) and here are the 3 choices ive considered aside from just buying a pair of new PortaPros

1) The Sennheiser PX200s- Whenever people discuss the PortaPro, there is always mention of the equal yet different px100's. I ended up going with the PortaPros mainly because i loved the idea of having its bass capabilities. I like having warmer sound qualities. I like that these are semi closed as opposed to open and other than that are pretty much the same as the 100s.

2) Coby CV-185- The biggest reason i want these is because of the headphones shootout done here on head-fi, i guess this might be one of the better bangs for your buck headphones (if your bucks are limited that is) at a street value of 10 dollars. Although after the portapros im not sure if i can bear with cans that dont sound as good. If the difference in sound quality is a bit minimal i wont mind, but if its a huge difference in quality i rather not.

3) Db logic HP-100
Man i like these cans, just in terms of how they look really. Well there is one other reason. See after years and years of listening to music through IEM (cheap ones i might add) with high treble usage, i have found that i have damaged my right ear a bit (i havent gone to the doctors, but the fact that i clean my ears daily yet have very reduced hearing in my right ear sort of confirms something wrong) and so i am very cautious of protecting my ears against harsh and extremely loud sounds. These cans use special technology that is designed to prevent such damage and is the biggest reason i want to get them. Of course i could just continue to listen to music and lower levels and reduced treble with other headsets.

So those are my alternatives to my porta pro. I think ultimately only the px-200 will compare to the portapros sound, but in all honesty i am the least excited about getting those. I am more leaning towards the HP-100s cuz of how they look and the ear safety tech, but if they cant even compete with the portapros sound then i figure there is no use. The Coby cans seem extremely cheap and the shootout article intrigued me, but i figure there is a reason the street value is just 10 dollars.

So if you guys have any information (especially regarding the sound of the db logics) please help me out in selecting a new set of cans by sharing the information.

Thank you all in advance.
