that's a great comparision! thanks for sharing!
do you also have the FXD60 or plan to get it??
So I've finally given the FX70 a good burning in and whoa! I remember stating way earlier that the FXD70 is like 90 percent of the FXD80, but not I have to change that. To be quite honest (and to my ears) the D70 and the D80 both have distinct sound signatures that are similar but vastly different from each other. The D80 has the widest airy soundstage, better bass and instrument separation between the two, but the D70 has more treble extension to my ears. Bass is there in the D70 but just tighter. Mids have really popped out in the D70 and there is great instrument separation too, but not on the level of the D80. The D80 is an open IEM and the D70 is a close IEM, so I think it's fair to compare them in the same manner you would compare an open and closed headphone in the same family (and within the same price range). I also think the D80 carries a bit more weight on the instrumentation than the D70. Both have wonderful timbre and are similar somewhat in the JVC house sounds, but yet quite different. It's a joy to my ears to own both. Happy listening.

So once again I'm finding that the D70 has the best highs out of all of the new JVC nanotubes IEMs and headphone. It's not as harsh of a high as the FX700's highs, but it enough that it can hurt my ears if I don't play the D70 lower than say me playing the D80. These highs are practically equaling the highs I remember hearing in the EX1000 from a clarity standpoint. I never thought a dynamic could get so clear and detailed (well, of course the Sony EX1000 showed the way).
