Can somebody who owns or owned the Swan (or Swans?) Diva M200 speakers compare them to general bookshelf speakers?

How do they compare to Paradigm Atoms or PSB Alpha B's or something along those lines.

I understand the Swans are powered so the real question is will a cheap receiver plus real bookshelves really blow away the Swans? Or is the comparison close enough to save the space (and money) and go with the Swans?

Thanks

I say buy a pair of the M-200, burn them in, and decide within the 30-day return period if you feel that you got your money's worth.

I used to own the swans, they compare well with $200 bookshelf speakers. I actually like them more than the paradigm atoms, which I found to be too warm and muddy for my tastes. The swans have a warm, mellow, rolled off sound, similar to the Wharfedale 7.2 I also owned. I think the swans are probably your best bet in that price range, unless you get a good deal on a used integrated amp and a nice pair of bookshelves.
