Ended up using the ibasso tool. Worked great. My DX100 now thinks it's an hdp-r10 and once I figured out how to change it to English all is good. Very responsive and sounds great.

Could you please describe step by step what did you do to install this Russian firmware on dx100.

ho ho ho... I got mine updated... my HDP-R10 has now better dynamics than my HM901

Installing instructions:
 
1) download https://mega.co.nz/#!X14wCBQQ!sAbzTrg1MYOJyls497MEpRJFHfEOMFa8UWY73Yyeg5o
Its a tool to flash rockchip phones (including ibasso)
 
2) switch ibasso off
 
3) press volume up and click reset button (one to reset ibasso)
 
4) screen will stay off but ibasso will be in download mode
 
5) Connect ibasso to PC (windows)
 
6) If yoiu have no drivers, windows will ask you for them, the package in 1) includes the drivers, use them
 
7) Once installed, run RKBatchTool.exeit should have one green box in there - its one that indicates its ready to flash it
 
8) I assume you have downloaded the update image already:

Unpack it and in RKBatchTool select update.img
 
9) Click upgrade wait patiently till everything finishes

I sold my R10. If that's true, I would buy it again!!

How much does it sound better??? R10 was already great.
if that Russian firmware can make it sound even better, I bet it can beat AK240.

By the time I sold my R10, I have concluded that I can't make a good use of it due to its firmware.

Its just about using rockchip flashing tool, there is one for linux but i am not sure if for a mac...
 
In general you need: rockchip drivers, flashing tool and image. thats it.
 
If you are not familiar with flashing devs, Id advise to use someones windows machine.
