Hi, I'm new here,

I was wondering what the best full sized headphone for mainly dubstep and electronica for around 200 or less. I thought the dt770 pro 80 would be good fit. What do you think?

DT770 is a good choice.

Also look into the Ultrasone HFi-580 and M-Audio Q40

DT990 Pro is even better, and is open, if you're into that sort of thing. Think of it as an open DT770 Pro 80. Still retaining a massive wallop of bass (actually even better quality, and stronger impact).

I second the recommendation for either the DT770 or the Ultrasone HFI 580. Both are good at producing quality bass for their price bracket. The 580s are really good for electronic music.

Do you need an amp for the 990? And since it is an open headphone does have a lot of sound leakage?

Yes (though the DT770 pro 80 needs an amp to sound good too, it sounds muddy as all hell when it's unamped), and yes...all open headphones tend to leak quite a bit.

What source(s) are you going to be plugging the headphones into?

I would definitely go for the M-Audio Q40 if you want something for monstrous dub/electronica. From there, the Denon D2000.

Very best,

I will recommend the Audio Technica Pro700-MKII headphones. They awesome after you mod them. Check out my Sound Correction Mod post for more info (you just need dt250 earpads and tape). Paired with my E17, Foobar2k with WASAPI, and a bunch of eq settings they sound great (I'm not trying to imply that they sound bad without being eq'd). Depending on the track I'm listening to there is so much bass I have to take them off for a moment to allow my ears to readjust (Flux Pavilion-Basshead is one of many...). I just love these headphones. Although I haven't heard the Beyers before, I have a gut feeling that these sound better than them.
