Update after a 12 hour burn-in (there is a dynamic driver in these) during which i didn't give them a listen. Direct A-B comparisons with modified UE TripleFi 10/RHA T20i/Shure 535/Oppo PM-3/Sennheiser Momentum Over-Ear with and without external DAC & amplification (Oppo HA-1/HA-2, Chord Mojo) in the next few days.
Bass extension and control remains very good but has more presence now. Definitely enough for my needs.
Instrument placement and separation is fantastic. Voices are still somewhat laid back but crystal clear. The sound of guitars is in my opinion second to none.
Soundstage is both wide and deep (mostly wide). Can easily discern different instruments in big orchestras.
The sudden transition from very quiet to loud parts in a song is very well executed. Great dynamics.
There is an upper treble boost audible which can make the FXA-7 sibilant when used with bright amps.

Definitely a keeper for me.

Obviously nobody can answer that about the new series as its too early to comment on long-term durability for the new line but so far everything looks sturdy and well made. You can definitely hear a "reassuring" click when the connector locks in place if that helps any.
