First let me say hello. I am new here and this is my first post.
Now for the problem,
I am looking to get some new cans. I have been pouring over forum posts in this and other forums for close to 6 months now and my head is spinning with all the info I have gleaned. Unfortunately I have picky ears due to growing up with a major audiophile in my father who would regularly spend 10k or more on home audio equipment in names like Audio Pro, Denon, Thorens, KEF etc. so my ears have developed a rather discerning taste in sound. I am a huge fan of clarity with full double drop kick to the chest bass with zero distortion but I love my highs too, just not when they sound like they are coming out of a tin pipe. I can't stand shake, rattle or pop in my ears. I need my sound to be accurate and powerful.
So now I find myself unable to decide on a new pair of cans and I need some help.
I listen to a rather eclectic array of music and I need a set of cans that can effortlessly go from Bocelli to cunninlinguists to Jimi Hendrix to Muddy Waters and back again with no distortion or weakness in the bass or highs that I can wear for extended periods. I would like to hear "bass power" without the mud and highs without the tin. I need my mids to be clear but not overbearing. My eq settings when I use them are usually set to peak just above the midline in the bass and treble with a slight valley in the mid freqs.
Why is this a problem? Because my budget is only $200us and I have nowhere to try before I buy since the nearest town is 150 miles away so my market is limited to the internet. I have read alot on "bass heavy" cans and frankly I'm wary due to the typical "muddy" sound bass enhanced cans can have as well as the typical loss in the mids and highs when compensating for the overwhelming bass. I know cans will never provide the "chest kick" that speakers can provide but I'd like to get as close as a set of cans can get to that without sacrificing the mids/highs.
I am grateful for any help you can provide.
So far my list has come down to this
Are there any I am missing that would fit the bill here? If so please let me know. And what are your experiences with the above models?
Again thank you for all your help and please, be gentle lol
