So apparently AKG is to release new headphones in a collaboration with Tiësto in June. This was on Tiësto's facebook page:

"
Tiësto is proud to announce his collaboration with AKG to create his very own AKG by Tiësto headphones! The range will be made up of three different models and will be hitting stores in June 2012. Keep posted for more news!
"

Im not familiar with AKG headphones but from what I've heard their sound isn't really mainstream. I wonder what these headphones will be like, whether AKG will remain true to their sound signature or if they are going to be like the Beats.

So AKG is the next Monster cable?  They sound nothing like the company they used to be when they made the K1000's.  It seems like they are trying to target and cash in on the crowd that buys Beats by Dre, which I don't consider to be a respectable thing to do.

Sounds interesting. I hope it turns out to be success for the headphones. Even though they probably won't be audiophile grade, it could be a good start to introduce more people to AKG and higher-end audio.

And AKG's credibility goes down the tubes...again. Seriously, I heavily dislike when headphones have to be endorsed by an artist (particularly when I dislike the artist as well) and I absolutely hate it when said artist has his name tacked all over the cans.

I can see it now...Introducing the Tiesto T703...promises superior sonic performance and hear music the way it's means to be...(actually is a recabled and re painted K701, hmmm maybe glow in the dark this time?)

I could see it coming

. At least Quincy was an artist with real contributions that most people could respect.

Well Tiesto deff is good with his music. His audio engineering skills seem okay and all of his recent tracks are very good sonically, no problem on funktion speakers, that's assuming he still does his mastering. Now what the man can actually offer in building the headphones is pretty much close to zero. He can just tell the manufacturers to improve on what he thinks should be better, and that sounds reasonable. By this standard however, the chances of them making a flat headphone is highly unlikely. Yet, I bet they'll sell them as monitors, just like with beats. It's all recycled bs. (perhaps better sound this time around). Damn, after Dre, celeb headphones just blew up big time.

Who is Tiesto? Am I living under a rock or something? Maybe the most popular musician in Austria?
Maybe the Austrian version of Justin Bieber?

I can see this happening in the future: Fiio and Tiesto combining to make an amp for studio use called: FIESTO E81

Don't worry, I only know him from the sound track of a crappy PS2 racing game I once had. He's a big-name electronica artist and producer.

As for this whole situation, I have only two words to explain it all: Harmann Kardon

Also, the guy posted a photo of the creations on his site: They actually look pretty neat, but so did Beats and look how that went...
