IIUC, homebrews & PSP game backups run just fine. Don't know about PSVita game backups. I'll ask my friend who's an avid PlayStation (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, PSVita) gamer & hacker next time I see him.

reaaally... I will look into this.  I'm about to sell my modded PSP which has an insane amount of time put in just downloading games that I liked.

the ones I really could always pick up and play were games like Lumines 1 & 2, Patapon 1, 2, 3, Loco Roco, and maybe a couple others.  This makes me feel better about getting the vita, which only has one game I want (Lumines)...and probably FIFA and won't have another for quite a while (little big planet).

If you look up the numbers, the vita is doing way more poorly than any of the systems even psp. 3ds struggled recently but its doing quite well now. For perspective.....the psp is selling much better than the vita in Japan.......and the 3ds much better than both.

I blame the overpriced memory card, there are other problems, BUT I blame the memory card

I also found out that the original psp has the wolfson as well...I believe all models of the psp. I always thought the audio was super clean..just a little underpowered.

Really? I always looked down on my PSP's audio quality and didn't bother to put songs in it...

Clean to me. It like my nexus s phone...nor my new iPod 5.5g I'm guessing since I haven't opened it yet. But yes...compare to all the other cell phones ive tried besides galaxy s phones.... Very clean.

I mean, having a wolfson has gotta count for somethng I think.. Maybe it's under-utilized or has other issues

Some threads on the net talk about really clean sound from the vita. I guess I won't really know since I sold it already without listening to actual music through it. Too much of a hassle and too bulky to be used as a music player....memory too expensive for that also right now.

Well, sound card does not really determine the sound from the player too. The amp and DAC also plays a big part, in this which the PSP has a rather weak amp. Had a chance to test out my PSP and compare to my Walkman A series today, and I find the PSP, although good, to be thinner, less detailed and has slightly less clarity than the Walkman, while the Walkman has a bigger sound and soundstage. But the PSP does a very good job already, and I got to agree, the PSvita and PSP is not worth buying the memory and it's too bulky for a MP3 player.

I got it wrong: just homebrews currently. Hackers are working hard to get PSP game backups running ASAP. Sorry for the misinformation; I should have double checked before posting.

Oh the Vita software is A LOT worse than Zune.  Actually Zune is very good and easy to use with plenty of functionality.  The Vita software on the other hand is down right backwards in comparison, has zero functions (absolutely ZERO, no playlists creation, no wireless sync etc) and FORCES the user to control the software on the Vita's tiny touch screen, there's also no mass storage mode either so it's the worse of both worlds (massively locked down with crap software with no way of using mass storage to bypass such crap software), it's really REALLY bad.

Dude, the vita's screen is ******* massive...

Also the Vita is super-restricted because Sony thinks that stopping hackers instead of making games is the key to keeping the Vita alive... morons.
