Ok,

So I have a nice pair of old HD650's here that I bought on Head-Fi a while back. Lately, the connections on the cord have been intermittent, so I'm sorry to say I think the springs are failing. Also, the right spring buzzes along to the music. Small, but there. Any solutions?

Thank you!

Hi!

I'm sorry to hear that.

Repairing the springs IS possible, but only if you are certain the problem lies there.
Other option is to order new driver, and that includes springs inside driver housing.

Remember, the springs are connected to rods with thin enameled aluminum voice coil, which is VERY fragile.
An attempt to clean or restore tension of the spring can easily break the voice coil wire apart, rendering that driver unusable.

Thank you, Moonwalker. It's not too annoying, so I'll just wait until it craps out. Probably another 20 years :D
