Yes, both have the zif connector, both use PATA.
That said, you will need a new back cover as the 240GB drive is thicker.
I think it's the back cover of the iPod video you need.
I ordered the back cover of the 6th gen 160GB iPod Classic but that one won't fit the 160GB 7th gen, so I ordered the wrong one.

I think I will sell my 240GB drive off again though as it won't work with my 120GB 6.5 gen.
I would need to buy a new iPod classic 160GB but I think it will cost less if I sell the drive and the 120GB iPod and get me a Chinese ready made 240GB iPod.
If you already have a 160GB 7th gen iPod I can provide you the right 240GB drive and help you look for the cover. You would need to do the modding yourself though, I won't risk breaking someone elses gear.
If you don't I'd advise against it and I can give you the link to the ready made Chinese ones.

PM me if you want more info.

This goes back to a couple of pages ago when I said the current generation classic(known as the 7th g) was different from the 80/120/160 classics(known as 6th and 6.5). I have built an opened up all of them. I was even victim when I bought a logic board from an ebay seller who said it was a 7th g board and it turned out to be a 6g board and it didn't work. So I feared that hard drive wouldn't work. I would like to build one with a 240gb ssd if someone other than alo can verify if one would really work.  I had a 5.5g with a 30gb ssd once and really appreciated the vast improvement in speed and the negligible improvement in sound. I would love to have a large capacity ssd with the interface of the 7g along with the ability to use with dacs approved for idevices.

Didn't see anyone with a 240 or 256GB SSD on this thread, but you could ask.

My 240GB HDD modded iPod arrived today, but I wasn't at home, will be posting an unboxing tomorrow

Dying to see how it goes...

Another question that's killing me is, can it be Rockboxed using Emcore? Once I had done that with my 160GB I never looked back. :)

Ordered from 'kaijessy'.
He said 'original Apple earphones included'
If I'm an *ss and he ships fake earphones I could annoy him with Paypal
But I obviously don't give a crap about the earphones :p

Edit: I'm going this afternoon to the post office, can't wait !

The 7th generation isn't compatible with Rockbox.
You could ask the seller to make an older generation with a 240GB drive.
5.5G and lower can be rockboxed.
