Hi, I'm kind of new to this good headphones thing. I always got the cheap 10$ skullcandy's but I use my in-ear headphone on average about 5-10 hours. Basically whenever I'm not working or at school, or even walking to another class I'm listening to my music.
Now I was going to by the 150$ BEATS tour in-ear headphones but someone told me I can get much better for that price. I don't mind spending the 150, so I wouldn't want a slightly less performing ear-bud even if they were 100 cheaper. I'm also always listening to rap. Mostly mgk, mac miller, eminem, cudi etc. So I don't want bass so loud I cant hear what they say but I still want some good bass. What would probably be in my best interest? Or if you think beats would be the best choice that works, just trying tog et peoples opinion. Thanks for the help in advance.

Almost forgot to mention I'm going to be using them to workout too, but no cardio just lifting.

This may be little or no help at all, i am new to expensive earphones myself but if you want a bassy sound the westone 3 are what i would recommend. They have a bassy full sound and there not the most accurate sound wise but you will have no problem hearing the vocals the only thing is they are expensive, $150 wont even get you a used pair but if you can crank your budget up a bit they are a great choice for those who like bass

The ear tips are excellent for both noise isolation and secure fit once you find your perfect seal. There are 10 different ones for if you get them new

You can get much better for that price! I think that Sennheiser CX300 II are good for you, or maybe a pair of CX 400 II if you're looking for a slightly better midrange. They have a lot of bass, (and that's the reason why I moved to the Shure SE215) but you can still hear and appreciate your artists' voice.
The SE215 don't have the amount of bass of CXs but the bass they produce is far deeper and realistic.
So I'd recommend you the CXs if you want a great quantity of bass or the SE215 if you're looking for more precise and deeper bass (and a pretty good midrange).

[note that CX500 are now renamed CX400 II]

+1 for SE215. Bass extends far, hits hard, and doesn't sound distorted. Mids are in typical "Shure" nature as in warm and very forgiving and Treble is relatively good. As an introductory product into higher end IEMs, I really think the SE215 is the right path. It has removable cables, amazing fit, good accessories, and good sound. At times, I actually prefer the SE215 over my Customs, Etymotic ER-4S, and even the bassy Sleek SA-6. They are pretty good IMO and for hip-hop they shine.

Atrio MG7 if you want to be blown away with quality and quantiful bass.

+1. I'm an avid rap listener and the MG7's are great. They were available for 110 including shipping off the website with a coupon (the code is in the deals thread). Not sure if they still have it but I'm sure you can get a pair used for around 100.

+2. Atrios have more controlled bass than the SE215, and also hits harder and deeper.
