I can assist you with the cracking of the W4s when I return from a trip I am taking, that isn't a problem. I can't offer guarantees, but I can if and only IF things goes wrong, you can have my Cracked W4s and I will take your BAs to have customs made out of them, since I will be buying a pair of W4Rs when I get back anyway. Hope this lessens the risk for you. My W4 were bought in May 2011.

Yes that would be great, thanks and lets hope i manage to successfully crack them myself with your instruction

Spkrs, is the silver/gold cable with your W4 worth the price?

Yes, for sonic qualities but terrible cable to use....I have a new one coming, you saw the photo on an earlier post?

That is gonna be a killer cable.....lots of technology on that one like !! i should pick up Friday but again it's an indoor cable for my bed side rig.

Shame that I have just promised to send my W4 with the silver/gold cable attached to another Head Fier to try this w/e otherwise you could have try it for a while?

With my se535ltd arriving i had forgotten about it but based on some of your past posts and the massive price it seems like quite a cable, whats the difference in the new one?

Sprks01,

Ok i have gotten the W4R and baldur MK2 cable, i have only been listening to it for a few minutes so far and i agree with what you said about the sound,
a richer sound fuller in presentation with pushed forward mids and more clarity in them, bass quality is also improved

That's similar to the impression I got when I tried the cable with my 4.A... it does sound nice and powerful, and I think it would be the preference for a lot of people, but I just prefer a slightly less 'involving' sound. I'm going to keep mine around for when my custom configured, custom-molded IEM comes in, as that will have a much thinner, brighter presentation than the 4.A --- well, that's what I requested with the designer, but I don't know if he'll follow my instructions exactly.

Welcome to the thread, i think there was only three of us on it before now and yes the baldur cable is much better than the stock cable, particularly the mids which can seem distant with stock cable, i am not sure if the highs have been improved, W4 are already well defined on those so its a bit harder to tell

What I find astonishing about the Baldur mk 2 is it really pushes out the mids in tbe W4R and yet in the SE535ltd it reins the mids in making it much less prominent but on both IEMs the bass is powerful and full and trebles sparkle........GO FIGURE!!!

Maybe its a good thing the shure SE535ltd have very forward mids, any more forward could over shadow subtle details elsewhere.I am actually starting to think it does improve the highs on W4,improvements all round especially the mids, the baldur cable brings them much closer to those of shure SE535ltd

spkrs01, earlier in the thread you were slightly critical of the pure silver cable describing it as removing the heart and drive of the music on shure SE535ltd and being too shrilly with lots of  siblilance when used with W4R, i did not agree with any of that when i briefly tried W4R with silver cable but now i am listening to it again with my 9 strand silver i/c and i find i am still not finding it shrilly but i do think its a little hollow sounding?  or maybe thin? i think silver does make the sound thinner, when i had the W3 i tried a silver i/c with them and i thought it improved them by bringing in more detail and the sound was not as thick but when using it W4R its just not worth it compared to baldur, similar to results with shure SE535ltd the price and performance of silver cables is high but baldur has a much lower price and almost equal performance as far as detail is concerned, in addition to that silver cables also require amping, without it bass is lacking, baldur on the other hand does not require an amp, for me baldur is by far the best choice

when talking about the silver 5n cables are we talking about the ''dream'' solid core cable?  or just the ''silver'' 5n cable? i am too in this dilemma with my red 535, and cannot decide between the baldur mk2 pro or the dream cables.
