O2 amp - which to buy?

I've settled on the O2 amp because of how cheap it is and I've heard so many great things about it.  Especially the lack of noise since I love the clarity in my music.

Anyways, I don't know how to DIY, so I am planning on buying an already assembled one.

The places I know of are JDS labs, Epiphany, and i think DIY audio?

I also have someone wanting to sell me one that he built for $125.

at Epiphany it is about 130, at JDS its about $150.

My question is, is there any real difference between these companies?  Different parts/batteries?  More importantly, do they have difference performance and built quality?

The performance should be identical between all versions: they are all based off NwAvGuy's parts list AFAIK. The JDS Labs and Epiphany Acoustics ones have nice custom front panels, but are otherwise identical.

thank you.

also, looking at the pictures, does it only have a 1/8" port?

Yup: if you want RCA sockets or a 1/4 inch headphone plug, you'll need to either DIY it or get someone else to do so for you.

Go with whichever you think looks best, though the JDS is likely to have the best build quality and the best after support. Johns communications are fantastic.

Currently an AC powered (only) version of the O2 headphone amplifier is being designed, hopefully finished in a month (or two).

Expected to cost around $30 more.

go with the cheapest one you can trust..

Both JDS and Epiphany should be trusted.

also, there are new plans for a DAC to fit inside the O2.. check nwavguy's blog.

....here's to hoping Chris didn't get banned for suggesting OP check out he who must not be names blog.

And a DAC would be a great idea..

If it helps, I ordered mine last night from JDS. I figured faster shipping and better build quality.
