Happily owning a well burnt in QA350 MK 1 for a year;
I took the plunge purchasing a ihifi 812 one month ago.
So far I have listened to it for one day due to ihifi 812 complete systems failure.
I took the chance to see if I could fix it. The battery wires are connected onto what looks like a fat mobile phone battery and the soldering was shoddy.
The menu is Japanese or Chinese so a little difficult to understand, but persistent as I am, not impossible.
Bearing in mind a very short playing time and no burn in, the graphic equaliser section needs work. Standard unaltered sound is comparable with the QA350, yet appears a little dull in some areas. Forget the other settings, makes everything sound weird!
Listening to Faithless in WAV format, Bass I tight and not too forced, Mid’s pleasant enough and the Highs not as bright as the QA350 once was.
Supporting a standard tree structure, the song menu is easy to understand although button action could have been given more thought. Right button moves down tree structure and bottom button takes you one level back.
The top facia by the volume knob is crowded and a 3.5mm jack extension piece has been included to connect large 3.5mm jacks to the line out.
The ihifi 812 screen is clear enough for text being able to display Song information, genre etc or a graphics equaliser. I would like to see a simpler screen with none of the extra frills such as the spinning cd graphic.
The Micro SD card is easy to install and remove.
It’s too early to say if this is a good music player but I am willing to continue and see if it has longevity.
