So is the CKS90 or 77 newer lol - its these number they are confusing me haha

Dsnuts told me the 90 is a 2yr old model, and the 77's is 2011 model.

yeh the 77 is their newest, updated version of the 90

ah so it is the updated model?

And the 55's are a "lower end" model.
So I take it ordering the 77's is the best option right?
being a basshead and all I think the CKM's won't satisfy me as much as the CKS series

That is what i have heard, the 77´s will be best option unless you go for their flagship earphones and spend silly money on something like ATH-CK100PRO and even then i think the CKS77´s would be better for a basshead, as thier flagship will likly be more balenced...but i have never heard it so cant really comment!

I have the CKM50 and I am a big basshead at times when i put on some dubstep lol...and it just doesnt have that big impact i get when i listen to my home 2.1 setup with the subwoofer blazing haha, but according to Dsnuts these CKS77´s have a more subwoofer like effect that is why i am upgrading tbh, as when i feel like some crazy bass they are meant to EQ very well while still retaining detail, but i can also turn it down a little when i listen to some chillstep etc

verry excited to hear these and compare them to my CKM50´s to see just if they can retain detail and have big bass, something i tought was impossible but hey...i would love to be wrong
biggrin.gif

Oh and CKM50´s apparently have more bass than the CKM77´s

cheers buddy!
I guess I'll order them now

if you wait for Dsnuts to get the CKS55´s my guess is that they will have similar bass qunatities but will lack the refinments and details of the CKS77...but i just couldnt wait any longer lol, and i knew i would want to upgrade further down the line

Something interesting i have just seen if your are willing to take a risk...the CKS50 with a contact for price...may be able to pick up a bargain http://www.custom-cable.co.uk/audio-technica-ath-cks50-portable-earphones.html

well if your anything like me, you would upgrade later anyway...so may aswel get them now!
There must be a reason why AT´s CKS77 RRP is double the price of the CKS55 too, if they sounded too similar my guess is they would scrap the CKS55

Interesting. From the looks of it. IT has the same housing design of the CKM55 but with a longer vented design of the CKM77, CKM99. Yes that is a vented design. If this means the muffled sound of the CKM55 will be gone that will be interesting.. I will get it if AssessoryJack will carry them and see what they are about. Hope they aren't gonna be too expensive. I just had a thought. I am wondering if someone at AT is looking at this thread and saw how I was dogging on their CKM55.. But I have confidence it doesn't take headfi for them to realize those should not have passed the QC stage.

What was your take on them when you tried them out JCJiffy?

So I understand:
CKM77 = more neutral, but also highs spike sometimes
CKM99 is the newer 77, but isn't worth the price vs the 77's

CKS77 = bassier, smoother
CKS90 is an older model than the CKS77's

CKS55 is the little brother of the 77's

I need to know which to order lol.
I think I'll be in the CKS category...but which.
77, 90 or 55.

Y U MAKE NUMBAS SO HARD AUDIO-TECHNICA!

All are spot on, but the ckm77s are not really that bad with the highs. They might have spiked sometimes, but...hmm...I don't know actually. At first the highs surprised me, they were sharp and made my ears bounce when it hit me a lot of times in my "face" but...then I got used to it that the highs spiking didn't really come out anymore. I think the burnin did that. If it did though...the ck10s should have had the same result, maybe I'm used to it now.
