So I bought a pair of these about a month ago mainly for technical death metal, brutal death metal, and reggae.... ( examples listed below.) Here is my opinion....with lots of "lols" and "hahas" :)

They are made extremely well. To me they look beautiful. I love the fact they have so many ways to customize it... Hell you can spend up to 27,000 USD! LOL I love how they come presented in the box and the 1 day shipping was nice. The warranty is downright amazing... All the extra cables... I ended up buying the boom mic since I play Elder scrolls, Battlefield, and a few other games.  The mic picks up everything so im told LOL.
Sound wise its F'ing beautiful... I have never owned a better pair of headphones in my life. They need to come with the XL pads stock though... The normal pads are very uncomfortable and im a smaller guy.... They also sound very hollow without the XL pads. I really love the bass. It really stands out... The mids and highs are a little recessed, but for any bass heavy genre these will kick ass... I can generally listen to them at 50-70 percent volume before they kill my ears haha. They are extremely clear though even at 100 percent volume. I have tried a few acoustic songs on them, and they do play them well and clear, but  if there is any bass in the song it tends to want overpower.
For gaming they are nothing but pure bliss... The Boom Mic cable does slightly limit the power though. But even when attached to a Xbox one controller it has enough umphhh to satisfy almost anyone. I have tried them on battlefield one and my god man.... I almost forgot to add, they do let a lot of sound out... My girlfriend says she can hear what im listening to at 50 percent volume at about 5 feet away from me, with the TV on. At higher volumes they also dont let a lot of sound in... But they are not noise canceling... At all. They can be playing on your phone but it is limited compared to a laptop or with a amp. I feel their are way more pros then cons to these headphones.  Overall these headphones are really worth the money and I would recommend them to someone who is willing to drop this type of money on a set of headphones, audiophiles, casuals, etc.

Technical Deathcore example- those solos man

Brutal deathcore example - Anyone into slams can see where the Modas kick ass here. (its in russian sorry guys)

Reggae example - One love

Are you sure the volume knob on your BoomPro isn't turned down a bit?

I have a pre-production BoomPro, never used the official release, and with the volume knob all the way up I notice no difference in power output between BoomPro and stock cables.

I use the boom pro on my xb1 (elite controller) and I had this issue until I fixed my xbox one sound settings and I can make explosions so loud I will smack the headphones off my own head in pain.   (If you have the chat volume up, your game volume goes down.. if your not chatting, go in to settings and turn down your chat volume)

Edit: unless a cable is bad, or just old and oxidized, the power is going to be received in full by the source.. if its not the settings on your xbox as I mentioned, it could just be a difference in output between the controller and your usual device.

Also, my xb1 GT is  GENxEXPLODE  if you want to add me :)

I PM'd Val the reasons I feel he should start making a Y cable that goes to each cup and why as the experience we are having with these Chinese custom options. I hope he eventually reads and I hope he doesn't find the option to add these to V-MODA's list of products as impractical.

Also anyone outside of US, if you are still looking to get these.. I could PM the seller and ask if he could post on Ebay or amazon for your location. Just PM me and I will send a msg for you.

While I don't have the elite controller I have the Forza 6 special edition one, with the nice fancy grips, and all haha. I plug it directly into the 3.5mm jack and the regular cable just plays very thing louder, clearer, and just more vivid. My only other thinking would be someone who put it together didnt set the dial right.

I hope you can still exchange or utilize.vmoda warranty (ive used, they are great and quick.. atleast for me)[/quote]

Eh, I dont find it that big of an issue to warrant a return and to be out the mic for 2 weeks(give or take)  just to return it. I might just open it and see if I can set the dial or leave it as is. Thanks for the advice though.

Can anybody recommend a similar sounding pair of cans (open or closed) that has velour pads? I love everything about these except the heat that the pads bring my ears. I'd like to get the X2s, but I'm hoping to keep things below $200. Gonna connect it to my receiver or my phone, unamped.

I don't know your willingness to do this.. but way back (sorry, I am at work, I don't have the time right now to find the page to reference for you) some people made velour/fabric pads for these and I believe explained how to do so.

As for something that would offer similar sound and have that option.. Tacstar's?  You can get the velour pads for the Kingston Cloud HyperX headsets and put them on the Takstar.. I don't know about anything that is super similar (closest sound ive heard to these was actually beats studio)

Yea its the dial. My goes really low when I have the dial all the way up so I have to turn it up just before max.

I thought at first it was my controller on low batteries or my mic setting on my xbox, but nope it must be the dial. I still havent messed with it, but it does have a noticeably lower volume than the regular cable. Still a kickass pair of headphones otherwise.

I think my M-100's are on their way out. With certain songs, the right cup goes out and only comes back on if I replug in the headphones. Seems they only last two years if used every day? My og pair's right cup died a little before the 2 year mark so I was able to get it repaired under warranty. This repaired one is almost two years old as well. Unfortunately I'm broke at the moment to get a new pair so I have to go back to my skullcandies ;_; lol

Well, did you try cleaning both plugs on the side of the cable, or even using another cable may be this one went bad ?

also other options you can use vmodas six star service, if still under warranty they can fix it for you, if out of warranty they can fix it for free if it is a mechanical issue or even if not they can offer you 50% discount for a new one under the immortal life program ..

come on sort it out ! :D
