Which headphone is better for me? I would be listening to bass heavy music mostly. I would also be playing music from my phone, I don't have an amp nor the money for one. The thing I'm worried about most, is the isolation. Whichever one leaks less sound will win me over.

The ATH-M50 is one of those headphones that consistently makes its way onto a top 10 beginners list.  Amped my ATH-M50 remain one of the best sounding headphones I own.  I would stick with the ATH-M50 because it is one of the best headphones for under $150 that is built really well and sounds better than 80% of the other headphones out there.

They leak very little if any noise.  You are not going to be driving your colleagues crazy with excessive noise that is for sure.

I heard that the isolation is better on the Pro700's from a review on this site. But, there's not very many reviews of it out there.

I have to agree with this. I went to my local store to listen to the Beyer DT770s. The guy at the counter said "try the M50s, then listen to the 770s after".

I agreed. The Beyer's sounded great. The fitment over my ears were great. Soundstage was excellent and I thought I was sold.

I then tried the M50s, and I could have shed a tear. It was just great all around. I played every genre from the iPhone amped through my E11. The bass just kept rocking. Especially on R&B tracks. The M50s just sound too good not to buy.

I wish I had some Pro700MK2s to compare, but I was sold on the M50s at that point. If you find that the Pro700s don't fit you taste, then I bet the M50s will.

Okay, I ordered the Pro700's, they should arrive tomorrow. If I don't like them, I'll return them and get the M50's.

I think you made the right choice with the PRO700. They do bass much better, are more sensitive (meaning they're much better unamped) than the M50, and they isolate about the same. Enjoy!

I have both here, i use my pro700's more than i do my m50's. Im going to be buying the dt250' velour pads and see how well they fit and sound on my pro700's.

How are you liking the Pro 700s?

I use them everyday on my gym/jog workouts. Im waiting for payday so i can order those dt250 pads. They have been rocking real good. I can see where people say they lack a little treble but its tiny. So not a deal killer, recommend them to everyone that wants a set of bass heavy headphones but with good clarity and extreme durability! I did hook them up to my O2 amp and they sounded great!!! everything was clear, highs, mids and bass.
