Thank you Spkrs for persuading me to do the update. Overall I am very happy. The sound is extremely neutral now and overall more detailed. I am using the DX100 with my UHA6 MKII with Op Amp 8610. A great combination!

Yep it's always a pleasure to help a fellow headfier in his/her quest for audio perfection/nirvana . Since mastering  how to use mp3tag it is so easy to change entire albums at a time on the fly. Before it would have taken ages and I wouldn't have had the patience to get that neat lol. Now there's just no excuse for dirty tags.

I think the latest "2" series version of Android that was available was numbered 2.3.5

Hopefully our units will at least be upgraded to this version soon, infact given the age of this version of OS, I'm really surprised it wasn't on the unit from the gekco.

Funnily for me, it is only recently that I have been listening to the DX100 on it's own, without adding an amp etc....

I am not sure if it is the update or what, but I have been really enjoying the DX100 as a DAP very much with both IEMs and Cans. I have to say that my IEMs are high impedance, 30ohm +, such as the hybrid DD with 2 BA or the 20 BA driver one.......my favourite can is the Shure 1840 on the DX100, the combination is pretty sublime.

Jamming out with Silver cabled IE80 atm. Funny how balanced and detailed these things are when combined with the right source and of course the lovely silver cable. Haven't tested the AKG 3003 yet since updating but I have a feeling now I will be happy with that pairing. Before the update I wasn't pleased with the sound from the AKGs.

Thanks all!

Grrr.

why o why did Ibasso (or Hibino or FuZhou) use that version??. Google has made that an obsolete package since at least introduction to ICS!!!

the next major version from Google is 2.3.3 which is Gingerbread... 2.3.1. was Froyo which is what this is using.

I am in the process of getting these files working in the Android SDK. Managed to get the "update.img" broken down into it's main components. (boot.img, system.img. cache.img, recovery.img). Though I was under the impression the DX100 at least ran gingerbread. lol. Downloading the Froyo package is we speak.

Be careful not to brick your unit or change the Kernal? To my understanding ibasso did something special to the OS to allow for 24/192 playback and the their Custom EQ.

Loving how super smooth and detailed this unit is lol.

Looks like my DX100 won't be going up for sale after-all...
