If musicday says it's better, it's definitely better
But the price- a DX100 just sold for $225 , the Lotto Paw Gold retails for $2288.60. That's enough of a difference to bung a pair of HD800's and a Chord Mojo and a DX100 for the same price as the Paw Gold. Now that would even things up in the sound stakes a bit.......

Two weeks of use? That is an insanely low price even for a well used one. I have one but am tempted. It is still one of the best sounding daps on the market.
Thats a real steal, bought mine last week for £330 in mint condition and couldnt be happier, love the sound of it,you just have to be patient with it,new battery required!

Funny a cable like 3 inches to connect an amp to a dap cost $300 and I sold a DX100 for 225.
I can see you crying.Funny a cable like 3 inches to connect an amp to a dap cost $300 and I sold a DX100 for 225.
Happened to all of us at some point.

Yep worth the price of a new battery to get it running properly and lasting

My DX100 has recently won a battle with Chord Mojo. Mojo is sold, DX100 stays.

What was the difference for you?
Tested with 1964 Ears Adel A12 CIEM (TOTL).
DX100 has better punch in bass, is a bit darker and the instruments sound a bit more natural / their tone can be better diffrentiated.
Mojo has a bit more energy and pricise positioning on the scene.
DX100 scene is always wide, while Mojo's scene changes depending on the music (which is not really a problem IMO).

I am afraid my ears found that the Mojo improved the DX100s sound . The sound was clearer less bloated in the bass and this was tested extensively during my review by hot swapping between the headphone out of the DX100 and the optical of the DX100 going into the headphone out of the Mojo.
I am sorry to my ears I believe the Mojo to have a better Dac and a better amp than the DX100, as good as the DX100 is. We are all different with our ears and our listening habits and what we like but those were my findings and I still stick by them being now an owner of the Mojo and having used the 2 together for many many hours by now . The Mojo stays.

One of the problems (or benefits) with the DX100 is that it sounds changes between different firmware versions. The one i am on 1.2.7 sounds neutral and balanced with a hint of warmth. The latest version, 1.4.2, has a decidedly darker sound with bloated bass, thicker midrange and less airy treble. When i got the DX100, it sounded different with thin treble and mids (i forgot the firmware version).
There're also firmware mods out there which sound different. In effect the DX100 is a chameleon which sounds different, sometimes drastically with different firmware versions (which is why i love it). If you like the Mojo because it has less bloated bass and sounds more precise than the DX100, try the stock 1.2.7 firmware. There's a modded 1.2.7 firmware available which sounded very precise with excellent imaging and soundstage, with thinner bass. I personally found it too dry for my taste though.

I think the difference may be explained by headphones used. As I mentioned I find DX100 better when used with my CIEM.
My Denon AH-D5000 played very nice with Mojo but not the CIEMs.
My ACS Encore Studios, Klipsch X11is, Sony XBa4ips, Westone 2s, Flare R2 Pros and Sennheiser IE800s have all been put through their paces on the Mojo and perform beautifully. At least you aren't adding to an already huge device on the move.

Is any of them multi-BA? Ok - Sony XBa4ips of 4 BA. Adel A12 is 12 BA.
My theory is that DX100 is better with multi-BAs then Mojo is.
I saw a measurement graph showing poor results of Mojo with CustomArt Harmony 8 CIEM.
