Looking at a portable over ear headphone.

Id like something with balanced lows, mids, and highs. Its alright if the lows are a little louder as long as they arent muddy. I listen to a variety of music. Everything from Queen, to Beech Boys, to Metallica and Usher. Id also like something with a removable cord since my cats like to eat them when my kids leave them out. Not that I want to make a habit of this, but I want to be able to replace the cord without replacing an entire set of headphones.

Ive narrowed my search down to the Sony MDR ZX700, Shure SRH840, and the Sennheiser HD448,HD449 or HD555. The only sets here that have a removable cord are the SRH840 and the HD555. What other options are out there right around $100?

Fairly balanced sound, with slight emphasis on bass, $100 range and removable cord = AKG K240 Studio, but it is not exactly a portable headphone.  Some of the others you've mentioned here are not portables either.

Doesnt need to be as portable as say a nice IEM, just needs to fit in my backpack for school.
