What makes you think a "true review" will stop the nonsense?

It would further solidify its true characteristics and fill in all the holes that that have previously been filled with guess's and nonsense.

Better question, how could a proper review cause more nonsense?

Unless you ask more stupid questions like that, I don't see how that's possible.

a 'proper review' is still subjective and could easily lead to more nonsense. If the review is poorly written, or written by someone who just doesn't like the sound signature there will be continued disagreement and discussion etc.

This was unnecessary however:

I'm just getting started. Wait until the first "proper review" comes out and folks start debating "what if's."

What if the reviewer had used NOS WW II Australian Army tubes instead of those new Mullard's.

Everybody knows the HE-400 positively sings when you use a triple-braided Peruvian-mined silver cable (twisted counter-clockwise to synchronize with the Coriolis Force of the Southern Hemisphere). More air around instruments, a deeper black background, and of course, tighter bass!

Did you know that if you remove the inner foam seal and lubricate the drivers with hamburger grease (use only South American beef, of course), you can improve the PRat, and widen the soundstage?

So how do the HE-400's compare to the Stax SR-009 with acoustic Aboriginal Speed Metal?

I can't wait!

Characteristics can only be so subjective. All you need is a frequency measurement tool and someone with a little experience to help them differentiate between what is and is not emphasized, and there you have a "proper review", along with a 2 cents on what it's positive and querks are and how all the characteristics apply to that particular listener.

Perhaps one ear finds a little sibilance, perhaps another ear finds the bass overwhelming, that's whats subjective.

Most ears however (aside from the audibly challenged) can usually come in agreement on what is bass or treble heavy, (ie beats or grados) but how much they like those emphasized (or lackthereof) frequencies is subjective.

I know you crave to tread water and have psychological debates on what is and is not subjective as do many other Head-Fi'rs I have observed, but there are other threads for that (that remain on-topic)

All I'm looking for is a frequency chart and a trusted member with experience like tyll or LF or daveDerek to give their two cents without having to dig through a crate of retired people with nothing more to do than create debates and hysteria, and my day will continue along nicely.

I just said, as many others have, that this thread is about (rough estimate) 98% misleading hype and 2% reviews/feedback on the product, and I think we should balance that percentage just a bit without someone snarking in some unnecessary sarcastic comment.

I guess he was adding his addition to the nonsense?

And to be honest, I think the last statement I said was necessary, but I guess that itself would be "subjective", wouldn't it?

G'day to ya.

The utter lack of impressions on the HE-400 from this first day of CES is alarming; hopefully someone there has a chance to type a few lines about it by tomorrow.

Maybe all the head-fiers are fascinated with the new HD 700 are in line for it, I know I would...

Can you guys just **** and stop arguing about nonsense lol. Tired of getting an email with this pointless bickering every time you go back and fourth. I subscribed for updates on what these sound like and to hear other's opinions and/or excitement for the HE400, not to get updates on who is winning the argument.

On a more relevant note, I'm disappointed that no one has posted any impressions from CES. Seems that the HD700's have gotten all of the coverage. I'm sure those will be great and all, but they are way out of my budget so I'm not really interested in them at this time :p. Mike said on Facebook via his fan page,"HE-400 on the mail. Should have first impressions up by next week." Hopefully he meant in the mail as in he received them already. If that's the case I'm sure he will post a few small tid bits about them before his actual impressions. Looking forward to hearing more about them.

It will be interesting to hear some impressions from CES but realistically they are nearly useless with the listening environment that must be the floor of CES...out of curiosity do any manufacturers ever set up soundproof listening booths at things like this?

I'm afraid they really are in the mail, as in, on the way. he hasn't gotten them yet.

Aw haha. Wasn't sure if he meant like they came in the mail today or if they had just been shipped. Looks like we have to hope for some CES impressions for those of us thinking about pulling the trigger before the preorder deal is over

I've heard some people say its so loud that you even have to crank IEMs to to cut the noise. I haven't heard of manufacturers bring sound deadened booths to auditioning open 'phones in.

CES biggest disappointment so far, no he-400 impressions.  Even if it's not the ideal listening environment it would still have been nice to hear something even if it's just about build quality or something.

Anywho fingers crossed, the shows not over yet.
