Well there are some pretty VAs IMO

Examples include Nana Mizuki, Suzuko Mimori and Aki Toyosaki

I can see your perspective but let's not get too stuck in the 2D world shall we :D

Aya Hirano, Chihara Minori, Kobayashi Yuu, etc etc. But my point is I tend to like a VA based on her work instead of her looks.

Edit: Eri Kitamura, Ogura Yui and Yoko Hikasa deserves special mention

This looks interesting...

I wouldn't say they are ugly or whatever, just that how they look doesn't really bother me.

True.

HanaKawa voice > HanaKawa face

Sorry, voice actors, we only like you for your voice.

Yeah, but that's all we can see about their personality. I like certain voice actors not solely for their voice, but either the characters they voice (pretty much every character voiced by Kana Hanazawa, Yoko Hikasa and Haruka Tomatsu), the type of characters they normally voice (like Rie Kugimiya for chibi pettanko tsundere characters, or Ono Daisuke for fabulous guys) or one particular character that I especially like (such as Yumi Hara as Yuuko Kanoe).

I'm not saying that I completely disregard a voice actor's physical existence, it's just that the characters they voice have a greater impression on me than their actual person.

Well then, that secure EAC rip took longer than I anticipated: 4.5 hours in total.
Then again, the CD looks like this:

Ouch.

Digital media>physical media (personal preference)

I agree, but AC/DC's Back in Black album is only available in physical media, unless you count iTunes (which is Mastered for iTunes). I don't know how the iTunes version is created though. This CD states that it's a digital remaster directly from the master tapes. Of course that doesn't mean much either.

I suppose I can buy...oh what the heck I hate you. I just bought the iTunes version of Back in Black (the song not the album).

The iTunes one seems to have slightly more bass such that the bass guitar is easier to follow, but if you have one or the other, they're really not much different to justify getting the other. They both have the same dynamic range value: 8.

I only got this CD since that was the test song that everyone was using for the JPS Labs Abyss and I thought it would be nice to have in my library so there's a common reference song. I wish I had an earlier CD since this is the 2003 remaster instead of the 1994 one.

It's nice. I get to fanboy over the characters they voice and their irl selves too. Twice the fun.

Yup. Them looking good is a plus to me, but their voices is what I'll be in contact with for most of the time, they might look like a goddess but if they suck at their assigned voices, it would ruin the immersion, so mostly it's voices over looks for me.

Yoko's Mio voice is so in-sync with her character that I gush everytime I heard her speak. Having a trademark voice is less important for me

Well said.

That's a good example of when a voice actor produces a convincing character as opposed to a voice actor reading lines off a script. I find that the latter rarely happens in Japanese, or maybe because I don't speak Japanese fluently enough to notice.

As of today Netflix is available in Germany without stupid proxy shenanigans!
Yaaaay~
Not interested right now.

Oh dayum!
Earsonics is going to announce a new product at the end of this month ♥

I need a DAP. 6hrs of music and my phones almost flat. :/

Local Jaben has the Earsonics at a huge markup, but the SM64 were pretty good. 8/10. I guess I will head over when they have the new model in store for demos

Music Alchemist
Now that I'm booted back in Windows, I tried JPlay with DirectLink and Hibernate options enabled. The hibernate thing is one of the most bizarre things I've ever seen...I almost freaked out when pushing buttons on the keyboard didn't do anything and I had to look up the manual on my phone to see how to get my computer working again.

Xtream, native bitstream, DirectLink buffers, throttle, and hibernate mode seemed to do it for me compared to last time.
JPlay ASIO > Light Harmonic ASIO > WASAPI for me in foobar.

JPlay's playback seems to have a darker background and thus makes the instrument separation better and provides more a 3D soundstage with depth compared to the other settings. It's hard to do direct comparisons though since the A/B process is a bit clumsy through foobar's options/delay time.

Somehow I find most VAs are able to get with the characters they are voicing extremely well

Nice! That theme song is so easy to recognise. It's one of my favourite ones from Studio Ghibli.

I really like the one from Arrietty too.

It's very good. If it wasn't for the extra bass, it would be my perfect IEM. An aggressive treble, big soundstage and lush timbre. If you're going to the Lantis Anisong Fes, let me know and we might be able to set up a small meet, along with Fidelio  X2(if I decide to buy them), Fiio X1 and GeekOut450.

They have a slight markup but if you compare our average salaries, it's not too bad, especially considering the difference between currencies. The Noble K10 is around 2.5K SGD, that's a decent price for a TOTL IEM, but here it's almost 6k..... Nope.

Great album, great vocals, decently recorded and mastered. This is what I like to see!
