I think so too. PS1 are good I prefer the other two.

never heard vintage rs1.

i've heard semi-vintage rs1 and hated it though. too bright with regular cushions and too shouty sounding with flats.

the rs1i is so much better, punchier and cleaner.

what are regular cushions?  That's not the preferred nomenclature.

rWell in case anyone is interested,i have recieved nice shiny, brand new ps1000 and in gentle, process of breaking in.at first listen out of the box i found them pleasant, although highs are definitly more extended than rs1.I actually think rs1 high are better( i would actually use my old bsr equilizer to jack it up at 8k),but this is all preliminary as it will be awhile until ps1000 breaks in,Just a note to any considering grado phones, while breaking them in,do it gently, and slowly as there have been few reported cases of driver failure, and in at least my case with my first grado, the sr325 i had driven them hard for a few months, and  had problems twice with failure.I then ordered the rs1,and when i recieved same in the mail,i was unimpressed, saying that the sr325 was much better, than one day after  gently breaking them in for about 2 months they really came alive.I have read many posts here where some have stated that it is impossible for grados to improve greatly after break in,this is hogwash, when they break in baby, you will here dramatic difference, so now i wait while my new babies come to life, and will post a few notes on same.If anyone is interested,i tested output headphone output from my nad reciever that puts out 70 watts in 8ohm at speaker, the results at headphone put were about 250 millwatts, the same as grado ra1 amp,but the nad blows away the grado amp in sound quality, this was the first time i had checked output, and did head to head  comparison between the two.I also recieved the sony mdrnc500 headphones as x-mas gift after reading the absolute sounds review of same.Damm, how could anybody say anything good about the sound from this piece of crap,it cost $285.00,i have a pair of pioneer steel wheels small phone that cost $28.00 dollars that ,while not highfi, definitly trump that garbage. Thanks to all for your input concerning grado ps1000.

Definitely agree - I would never ever recommend the PS1000 as a flagship purchase to someone I did not know personally, the expense is far too

grand and their unique presentation is one for discerning tastes. Still, they make me smile these cans - I spend some days with the HD800, LCD2rev2,

LCD3, Edition 10 only to come home to the PS1000 - and just smile smile.gif

I really would like to listen HP2, PS1000, Magnums, Ulti or HE6 mmm. LCD2 seems to be too much dark for me but modified amp is still not at home so I will see.

Well I'm realy thinking of buying the LCD-2 soon, and I have a pair of MS1000 and a pair of magnum v4 drivers, so should be a good comparison!
