What's the consensus? Do they both essentially sound the same? I keep reading that they both have similar drivers etc and I'm confused.

I'm having to choose between them for my first foray into good quality headphones and I can't decide. Keep in mind that I'll be using this pair for everyday listening as well as on the go. This will be my main pair.

Further things to consider. The KSC75 costs about half as much. Also I mainly listen to prog rock such as Pink Floyd/Flaming Lips/Radiohead so I don't want heavy bass or any of that. Respective sound leakages.

Basically which pair should I go for, as my main pair?

The KSC75 has titanium coated drivers which make it have more treble/brighter.

Porta pros are a little darker, bassier, and warmer, where KSC75s are more aggressive and sparkly.

Of course consider the clip-on vs headband, although both can be interchanged (porta pro drivers can have clips attached and ksc75 can fit in the porta pro headband - changing the housing also changes the sound a bit).

Check the comparisons in this thread.

I prefer the KSC75 due to it having more treble and less bass.
I actually use it on a Porta Pro headband. It also works with some HD-414 pads!! You just need to remove the stock foam.

KSC75 with a $6 recable + new pads is a fun project for those that know how to solder or want to learn.

The KSC75 is the easiest headphone in the world to recable and good for practice.

Yeah I did read that thread. He seems to review the PortaPro slightly higher but I dunno I've read conflicting things here on head-fi. Based on my musical preferences would you say higher treble would suit me or the other way round?
