1) not recessed sounding in any way
 
2) complement my GR07 mki well and do some things better
 
3) are not lacking in bass (TWFK Knowles are still bass shy from most accounts. BA200 uses Sonion drivers)

I've owned both the old and new version of BA200.  I don't have access to the "big boys" for I've only had R-50 and Monster Turbine Copper.  But I'll share to you my listening experience up to this point with BA200. I have over 400 hours of listening time on the old version vs. 100 hours on the new BA200. In terms of SQ, the new BA200 retains the smoothness, clarity, and bass of the old version.  The only difference that I've observed between the two is that for me, it seems that the new BA200 is less forgiving on the quality of the audio file.  With the old BA200, I could listen to music with 192kbps mp3 quality without any issue. However with the new BA200, I could definitely hear the distortion whenever I played those audio files with 192kbps. Just to make the issue is not because of a defective IEM, I've listened to numerous orchestra albums ( FF - Distant Worlds, Journey OST ) with FLAC format, and I've not heard any distortion when playing the music.

You can but its masked by midbass. Subbass isn't s strength of these

I only need sub-base to give a good presence to ambient music. stuff like thunder should sound natural and powerful. can these do it? maybe I'm asking too much. I apologize if that's the case

Try a dynamic, BAs usually lack that.

The BA200 have a very "atmospheric" or "ambient" sound quality in general, IMO. "Powerful" is a harder sell unfortunately.

I thought I'd never own the BA200 since they were always over $200

The tf10 uses I twfk driver from what I remember and are definitely not bass shy.

Well he's not speaking of just bass, but rather subbass/extension. The BA200 starts gradually rolling off around 40hz. The only BA exceptions I've heard are Heaven V, X10 and UE900 and they are actually all vented BAs.

TF10 doesn't use a TWFK from what I recall, TWFKs won't give you that bass anyway.

I think I'm starting to understand how this iem sounds. so I should be able to hear at around 40 hz (that's more than enough for me) but it doesn't sound very powerful or dynamic... at around 120$ (amazon us price) it should be pretty great. another question - how's the timbre? I listen to lots of classical and jazz recordings and love when I can almost feel the crunch of the string instruments or when the percussion instruments sound as if I was in front of them. do these iems do it? if yes, I can forget the powerful sound part

I've been strongly considering getting a pair of these since the last time the price was this low (a few months ago) but I always held off since I have the RE-262 and TF10, two IEMs I've heard are similar in tonality or (in the TF10's case), can be modded/damped into sounding similar. Would that assumption be correct?

I'm not for sure it's from the twfk series but it is a Knowles armature for the mid/bass
